Feather Fan Dance

Half Moon Manicure

I filmed my nail tech doing my signature half moon manicure for you. I’ve been wearing my nails this way since I was first styling myself in 40s era glam in the early 90s. We were in Paris, and it was during a haute couture week. All of Paris was covered in a blanket of snow… beautiful, but freezing! We did so many photos, and it was an exceptionally long day; I think around 18 hours, maybe even more. This was the last thing we did that night, and I was exhausted, but it was the beginning of a great artist-muse relationship.

For those who requested cat updates, this is Berlioz this morning while I had my coffee.

Fourth pic is just after he got slapped with the Glamourpuss bitchslap paw for terrorizing her for no reason. She cocks that paw, looks at him with her eyes barely open, waits…and then strikes hard.

Moonlight Fan Dance

A fan dance by moonlight, filmed in my backyard during the pandemic. You might recognize my moon prop, an act Catherine and I created in 2001. I always performed this one with a six foot bubble and a blitz of star shaped confetti. however, on this night, my only useable bubble immediately popped in the trees, and it turns out the backups weren‘t put away properly after the last tour, so they had disintegrated. So the moonlight bubble dance turned into a feather fan dance.

LipTeese Lipstick Ride (PG-Rated)

Here‘s a video of the first time I performed the re-imagined LipTeese act. I first did it for MAC Viva Glam around 2006, with the pink crystallized cowgirl costume by Catherine D’Lish. Later I did the cowgirl costume with a new pink velvet bull with six foot Swarovski covered steer horns, because it was much safer than the lipstick prop. Quickstep Rehearsal

I thought I would share some of my full dance rehearsal videos here. I can’t believe it‘s been just about a year since I did Danse Avec Les Stars in France! This was a quickstep, but we added some collegiate shag and Lindy Hop to the mix, since Quickstep does have some origins to the social dances of the 1930s and 40s. I brought in a couple of my swing dance pals, who happen to be located in Europe now, and they taught Christophe some shag and lindy. Maybe you can spot it?

My Weekend

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I visited my friend Howard at his duck sanctuary, and delivered him the kitty I rescued off the street a couple weeks ago. Then I had my friend Desi over, and we introduced her sweet little rescue dog Crackers to Berlioz and The Miss. Berlioz is a real ’fraidy cat, so I didn’t expect it to go like this, but he was very intrigued and followed Crackers around. The Miss used to have Chinese Crested dogs in her household, but she was still cautious. Crackers...

Hat Shoot Part 2

Just a little video I made on my iPad of our impromptu hat shoot. Pardon the quality, I just put the iPad on rather than having someone come film,, as with some of the other videos. When we do shoots at my home, we generally limit the number of people present, so there’s glam by me, catering by me/Cali, BTS/video editing by me, and so on! Adele and her husband are here shooting/directing.  Berlioz makes a cameo, of course. These hats come out this fall.

One for your Friday night… my performance of Teese’ing, an Act Ali Mahdavi and I created for The Crazy Horse Paris. We had this idea to pay homage to Tease’ing (that’s how they spell it out at Crazy Horse) which is one of my all-time favorite acts of The Crazy. There’s a trick to it, which caused me to face-plant during one rehearsal. I think I might be able to find that video for you if I dig! ;)

Wonderbra by Ali Mahdavi

I know many of you have probably seen this video from several years ago, but thought I would share it here. We had so much fun making this. I think it was one of the first few things Ali and I filmed together, along with Suzanne von Aichinger. It was made in Paris, and one of the dancers is my friend Marc Moreau, who is now one of the principal Paris Opera Ballet dancers. When I came out on the set with the scientist look, no one recognized me. It was the last look of the day. 

Swing Dance.

Someone sent me this photo from my swing dance days, here with “Lindy Bill”, the gentleman who first taught me how to swing dance. I still hit the dance floor now and then, but my favorite partners moved out of LA.

Martini Glass

A few early martini glass photos I pulled from my archives. This particular glass now resides in Las Vegas at the Burlesque Hall of Fame.

Another amusing fun fact, I also have a duplicate of this glass, which was made for the film Charlie’s Angels 2, Full Throttle. I won it, along with a lump sum of money, back when the film was released because they imitated my act, which is protected by various copyrights and trademarks.
