I recently started a new campaign that takes place in the desert, so I have desert beasts on the brain. I've been thinking about dwarves a lot recently, mostly about how I want to see them portrayed. I'm not a fan of the 'drunk, greedy human that is short' that I see show up a lot - but I like the idea of them being miners, stalwart defenders, and connected to the earth. I decided to link them to the Plane of Earth, perhaps long ago they would've been elementals, and lean into that heritage for them.

Poisonous Frog - I don't recommend picking this frog up to try and kiss it; otherwise you may end up with spit in your eye.
Armadillo - Please don't kick your little friend when it rolls up into a little ball.
Hippopotamus - I learned that hippos have very thin skin. Actual skin, but they are sensitive when you verbally insult them, so be nice.
