Biodegradable glitter

Multiple recent project have made us consider diving into and testing biodegradable glitter. Now... we may never tackle a video on them, and IF we do, it might take 1-2 years haha but we thought we'd reach out to y'all with some of our thoughts and get some of yours.

So it turns out the term "biodegradable" can be used even when it only "biodegrades" under extreme industrial composting practices... which are rarely if ever used on the "biodegradable" plastics.

Well thank goodness for editors and past us. We have a video due to a sponsor THIS Friday (in 3 days). We were worried about getting busy around the holidays and new years so we rushed to squeeze the filming of another video before the holidays (which we did). Then we got sick. AHH OMG guys they did not crack while they cooled and they are so dang CUTE! We ended up turning them into necklaces since that is what Katelyn wears most (just so they get some use) and we're really happy with how they turned out. One of the coolest things is that they don't need any additional finishing work (top coats, sanding, etc) haha! Hopefully they turn out to be durable and long lasting, we'll see over time I guess. It's supposed to make a flame like this right?

Making glass beads has been an awesome experience... with lots of sweaty moments in between haha! The "instructional" DVD ended up being like 3 minutes so we were definitely learning as we went. One big surprise was how much the melting glass gave off a different color flame as it melted.

After you're done making the beads you also have to put them into a super insulated fiberglass blanket for...

We're going to melt glass and try working that molten glass INTO something for the first time... what could go wrong? Also what is molten glass but extra spicy hot resin? 🤣

Don't worry though, we have a highly advanced DVD from 7 years ago to guide us along the journey! That's what we thought at least until we discovered the "instructional" DVD was a 2-1/2 minute teaser for an actual instructional DVD you have to buy (that is not available online anymore) hahaha

Holiday Stream

Hey guys! So we've been thinking about what we want to do for a holiday stream (we haven't made an announcement yet but it'll be Sunday 12/19 2:30 CST) and I think we landed on an idea - painting memes on ornaments. It's not a super solidified idea yet BUT right now we're thinking of doing 2021 memes because then it's also a little fun year wrap up. Also because I really just wanna paint the zoom call lawyer as a sad kitten with a speech bubble saying "i'm here live, i'm not a cat"

Catio 2 Aftershow

CATIO v2 is complete! (SPOILER)

Guys... IT'S complete!! Catio v2 is built and installed and Joob took to it right away, PHEW 😅 Katelyn is rushing on the edit right now but we should have it done by this Friday. We honestly got quite a bit tighter than we like with our sponsor deadline for this one but we're so glad we finally had enough time to make the new catio. Even though we had the old one installed, this one just looks SO much better, has a much better entrance, is bigger, and is SO much sturdier.

Catio 2.0 is in the works!

Hey guys! Thank you for soooo many fun suggestions for Joob's new catio in the post the other day. We took in a lot of your ideas and combined them with some of our own and we've officially started on the new design! It's a similar basic shape, but a little wider and deeper, as well as tall enough to add a little perch for her. We also will be making a custom acrylic cat door window insert, a solid floor and hinged roof for easier cleanup, and an acrylic front for a better view (we'll still h...

World's Brightest Lightsaber Aftershow!

5 months ago we bought the world's brightest flashlight....

...and the project we bought it for is FINALLY happening! We're making the worlds brightest lightsaber! I thiiiiiiiiiiink we can claim that title - it's 100,000 lumens and we're using the brightest flashlight civilians can buy to make it happen. We've done some research and haven't found a brighter one yet.

So you know how we assembled the new tablesaw back in the workshop makeover? Yeah... that was just for looks, we didn't actually have time to make it fully functional until now (over a month later). But now we have an ACTUAL working table saw, wooo! Gimme some stuff to cut!

Also, incognito Perry is back there getting moldier and moldier. We really need to toss him... Bean is still looking good though, no changes on him which is why we haven't done an update post yet.

Catio 2.0 brainstorming

Hey guys! So I'll admit - we're struggling a bit brainstorming the new catio design. A big reason why is because Joobie LOVED her old catio... so much so that we are hesitant to change too much about the design. But if we recreate the exact same thing, obviously that's not gonna be a very interesting video. So we're trying to keep elements she liked and things that worked well functionally, but upgrade some things we felt could be improved. But if y'all have any ideas, we'd love to hear them!...

Our boy Bean has passed the 21 day mark in great condition! WOOOO. At this point Francis had leaked his guts all over our garage... RIP Francis. We're not fully sure if it was dehydration or using fast cure resin instead of UV resin but most likely it was a combination of both that lead to Bean's success. Creating this video sure was a rollercoaster though. There were certainly times when we were wondering if we could salvage this. Excited to share...
