Started filming this Aftershow literally RIGHT after we finished the project! In this aftershow we talk about
- Evan's surprise pressure
- Supurrvisor struggles
- Desk aesthetic and desk plans for future desks
- Home makeovers that are actually functional
- Mid video scope creep
- October is insane
- Our different views on modularity
Hope y'all have a great weekend! <3 Katelyn

We've been working our way around the house and this week it's time to renovate the guest room!.. yes... for the third time lol (first the printer cart, then the murphy bed/builtins).
It's taken on an identity of the junk room unfortunately but we finally have a vision for how it should look, which includes a little simple desk we'll build :)

Hey guys! YaYYYYYYY Catcus is finally live! We've been dying to publish this one ever since we first came up with the idea. Really hope y'all like it. So, in this Aftershow we cover...
- our worries about this video

It's like Jigglypuff meets cactus meets igloo meets ball of yarn. We're so pleased with how it turned out! Can't believe that underneath all the twine, paint, and resin, it's just blue shop towels and glue haha.
Can't wait to release this video tomorrow!!!
(PS- Supurrvisor approves of it and has been taking naps inside)

Ahahahah so this is the best mockup I could create for our "catcus" project. We'll be 3d printing the body parts to the twine wrapped body.

Hey guys! Hope y'all enjoyed this video where we just sort of experimented. Like I said in the last post - it was definitely more about the journey than the destination haha! In this aftershow we chat about:
- the different iterations this project went through (soap!!)
- our concerns about this project
- future plans
Hope y'all have a great weekend,

Hey guys! Thought we'd share a sneak peek of next week's video. This is going to be a cat house that's shaped like a little round cat house. It's actually paper mache covered in a bunch of layers of resin.

We've never done something like this before. Eek!

Wellllll here's how the ring dishes from our million layer clay turned out. Specifically, 256 layers (left), 4096 layers (middle) and 1,048,576 layers (right).

They're ya know, ok looking. Nothing crazy. I mean the clay looks cool (especially 256, below!) but I wish they looked a little more polished.

Wanted to share a few more photos from our Million Layer Clay experiment. Luckily we took slices at a few different points to make ring dishes from, so we did end up with 2 cool ring dishes in addition to our brown million layer one :P
Here's the progression, or, slow decent to brownness. The pic at the top of the post is 16 layers. Then we have...

Nope, it's a million layers of clay 😂 This is for an upcoming project, we used a cheap Harbor Freight arbor press all million layers together. Well, technically 1,048,576 layers, because that's how the math worked out. We did 16, cut it into quarters, then 64, cut it into quarters, etc til we reached a million

We're making little ring dishes out of a few different slices along the way so th...

Hey guys! Hope y'all like today's video, it was really fun doing a secret compartment! In this aftershow we cover:
- It's still unfinished!
- How the idea/design evolved
- Can we not do projects if they're too simple?
- Fake money and neighbors
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend! <3 Katelyn

Hey guys! Friday's video is an art ledge with a secret compartment, because that seems fun and fancy :)
Here's the front side (with the door off). I guess it'll make more sense later haha. It's kinda like floating shelves with hidden storage but much wider and with a little lip. Could also totally be used for books, photos, etc.

It's just a thin compartment but totally perfect for ...

Hey guys! So we've been getting requests to do this for a while and we finally got our butts in gear and made it happen - we have hoodies and sweatpants now! Wanted to make these in time for the weather getting chillier (I think for some people that happens in later September? I dunno, those people are not in Texas 😅)

In this aftershow we talk about:
- our fears that we didn't have enough build
- our fears that we talked too much at the end
- further analysis of bought lamp
- Katelyn's editing adventure
- how we would change the lamp if we remade it
- series name potentials

We're hustling to finishing the edit and thumbnail right now but the project is complete! Happy with how it turned out :D
Could be the start of a fun new series. BUY or DIY...?
...or the more wordy version: "E&K make things they could have easily bought"...

Hey guys! Wanted to give y'all a sneak peek of this week's project. We found this cool lamp on Amazon (this one) and we're gonna try to remake it... But we're also gonna buy the one online and compare at the end. Like a "can we do it better or should you just buy the thing" kinda deal. It's been fun just doing a simple woodworking project - no long dry times! Haha. Hope y'all are having a great week!

Haha this was one of those videos that was so stressful in the moment but now looking back I have very fond memories and I'm like yeah, we should do this again! In this aftershow we cover:
- How surprisingly stressful this really was
- Would we do it again?
- Our theories about why it was stressful
- What the inspiration video was

Ok, I'll admit, it looks a little closer to the actual Bob Ross painting than I feared the entire time Evan was explaining things to me.

The barn was literally the bane of my existence. Luckily some foreground trees kinda obscured it haha.
Like Evan said in the last post, this was DEFINITELY one of the most difficult videos we've done! But it was also really fun (or maybe I j...

In this week's video, Katelyn is going to try and paint a Bob Ross painting, but she can't hear or see Bob Ross. Instead, I'll try to verbally explain everything to her and guys... it might have been one of the most challenging things we've done yet lol.
Also we have one more just for fun project planned after this painting one, then we have a wooden art ledge and a few other more practical videos in the schedule. It's hard to make everyone happy with our video choices so generally we j...

This has been our most fun project in a while! In this aftershow we cover:
- Origin of idea
- Behind the scenes of filming in the cave!
- Managing our expectations (trying to keep them low)
- Failure of the first pour and how we tried a new video style to deal with that (went through a few iterations)
- Idea to add another skit to the beginning and how it morphed into us going to a cave system
- Our thoughts on making it accessible to everyone but also appealing to...

We have some pretty high hopes for this Minecraft Pickaxe video so we're going the extra mile both by making additional props (like this Minecraft crafting table and literally the extra 190 miles by driving to natural cave system for some extra filming/skits!
Wish us luck! -E

Ok, Minecraft diamond pickaxe update! After attempt one, the glow powder settled in our resin cubes. Womp womp. BUT Evan tried another test where we mixed glow powder in evenly to the 3 colors we were combining (before we had just mixed it into one)...

... and this time it worked! There's some slight settling of the glow powder but it's way less noticeable. So now all our light diamond pieces ...

Shorter aftershow this time for a shorter video (crazy that 14 minutes is SHORT these days haha). We cover:
- Better alternatives for drilling that dang PVC!
- Other DIY cat foraging projects people have done
- How she's using it so far (not quiiiiite as intended haha)

Haha.... so over the past few days we've been testing the cat foraging toys, trying to add some regular food mixed with the treats. Based on our research it seems like in a lot of cases, the toys are where they get a large portion of their daily food, and the treats are just used in the beginning to help teach them. Well Joobie has decided she's just gonna knock out the food, leave it, and eat the treats. How very catlike of her to not cooperate with hooman plans haha
