The Cryopod to Hell Rewrite: Update 1

This is the first 4,000 words of the Cryopod to Hell Rewrite. In the future, all updates will be for the $5+ tier donators only, but this first version will be available for everyone as a sort of free preview of what's to come.

Keep in mind too that it will be subject to frequent revisions, entire portions may be scrapped entirely, plotlines may be subject to change, and so on and so forth.

Klok Tips: QFWT (Quit Fucking With Tenses)

A week since the last part was posted... no part today. However, I'm still working on the restructuring, it's just taking longer than I expected, as all worthwhile things tend to do. I'm determined to post a new part tomorrow at the latest, so we shall see!

In any case, this post is about writing tips. I'm not going to pretend that I'm the greatest writer in the world, or even a foremost authority on writing in general, but I'm pretty okay at it and I have an improving grasp on the fundamental...

Thoughts regarding Amelia.

It's been 6 months since this story started, and what a wild ride it's been!

I was reading through old posts, thinking about the rewrite. The thing is, there's a lot of things in the early parts of the story that need more thought put into them. 

Cue item 1: Amelia.

To understand Amelia as a character, you have to go by my thought process when I started writing. Once I explain it, you'll go back and re-read the story and be like "Oh, wow, that makes perfect sense." Amel...

My thoughts on writing an effective Marty Stu archetypical character

A long time ago, I watched a critique on all of the recent superhero movies, but it especially focused on Superman. I'd love to link to the video, but I can't remember what it's called or where to find it anymore.

Before I watched the video, I couldn't tangibly explain to anyone what made Superman an interesting hero. I mean, he's cool, because he can punch holes in the Moon or whatever, but I didn't really know how one might go about writing a story that made him an interestin...

Regarding Jason in the rewrite

Should Jason stay exactly the same as he is in the story right now, or should he have a somewhat altered personality?

My plan to get more readers

I haven't made a patron-only post in a very long time, but that will be changing once the web-serial is completed.

I was sitting here mapping out a plan for the future, and thinking about how I could get more eyeballs for the story, which would obviously lend itself to more readers, but also more patrons down the line, more people who would be able to drop positive reviews if/when we eventually hit Amazon, etc.

So here is the plan, in incremental steps.

1. Complete Cryopod, ...

And there's going to be a LOT of expansion.

About those rewritten 20 parts!

So as you guys now know, I plan to mail 20 rewritten parts to every $10 supporter! Of course, only to those that have already paid out, but at the start of next month's pay period, all the new supporters will get it too!

However, there is a caveat. It's all WIP, and as you can see, I'm still very focused on putting out new content! I might wait until next month to actually mail them out, but I will possibly do it this month as well! This is all dependent on how long it takes me to rewrite ...

Message to all $10 tier Patrons!

As stated in the description of this Patreon page, the $10 tier and up offers a special reward! I plan to start mailing "cool stuff" to my Patrons!

The first thing will start... soon. I don't know when, but basically I'm going to be rewriting parts 1-20, and I will send you guys a hard copy of those, on paper! I will mail them to each and every $10+ Patron who has posted an address! You will be the first people to see what I've been working on, nobody else will see them until the offic...

It only took 40 patrons, and we've reached $200 a month!

In a mere two weeks time I went from no patrons and no donations, to $175 paypal'd directly and $200/month over Patreon. WOW! You guys are making my life so much brighter!

At this point, I am strongly considering writing as a career. I had never done so before in my life, but that is quickly changing every time I post another part to Cryopod!

And what comes afterwards? Eventually, Cryopod will reach a conclusive, and hopefully satisfying ending! Well, I tell you what, I wi...

We did it. I'm shocked.

In a single week, 21 patrons took me from $0 a month to $100 a month. Holy shit.

On top of that, I've been paypal'd a whopping $85 already. My god.

I'm very incredulous right now. I knew people wanted to donate, I knew people wanted me to keep writing, but this is just unprecedented.

And beyond that, I only made the Patreon 4 days ago! I've been writing for only 9 days! OMG!

You guys make this all worth it. Should we ever reach that magic goal on the left side...

Hooooly sweet Jesus!

As I was writing the newest chapter and furiously typing, I received a message alerting me to THREE new donators! Holy CRAP! I'm at $99 a month?! You guys are awesome!!

I'm constantly surprised by the generosity of those who pledge large amounts of money to me on a monthly basis!
