Falsetober #2

2nd day down, 29 to go!

Falsetober has commenced! I will be making a drawing every day this month, and as I said in the last post, I'm going to be trying something a little different this time around.
I will be putting the originals up for sale in my store after posting them here on patreon. I will also likely be making some prints as I go! I hope you enjoy!

People often ask me where I find my inspiration, and let me tell you, sometimes it is pretty straight forward.

If you'd like to see the first 'The Honkerer', click the 'honk honk' tag below.
Also, if you are ever interested in buying a print of any of these patreon comics, just send me a message!

Because of various forest fires this summer, I've seen some pretty stunning/terrifying sunsets. Lots of oranges, deep magentas. Many of you have likely witnessed similar things, if not even more dramatic!
Don't stare directly at the sun, gull!

I started this comic as a plein-air painting (outside, on location), and the third frame of the jewelwing standing motionless is mostly what I was able to do before a light rain began to fall. I think I'l...

Hey friends! This is my first, new (publicly posted) False Knees comic in nearly 2 months!
I rarely take breaks intentionally. Sometimes I begin to doubt my comics a little, so I start many without finishing any. Feels good to get one done finally!
The seal has been broken, so the comics shall hence spill forth!

*bloop*
It's turtle time! I was on a canoe portage trip last weekend where we made friends (we observed each other cautiously from a distance) with a large snapping turtle. I thought it looked so be...

Directly inspired by the very first Peanuts strip.

I purposefully made this one on rough, cold-press watercolour because I've been using smooth, hot-press for years now. An...

I've started and set aside a few comics/art things over the past few weeks because they have required more attention than I seem to have in the summer. So back to basics this week! I sort of let myself take as much time as I wanted with these, so here are Four Somewhat-Longer-Than-Six-Minute Comics.

The dialogue from this comic was one I came up with when making my last gull comic (posted at the end of April). I like painting gulls and clouds.
A note for anyone interested in reading all of the patreon-exclusive comics – you can click the tag 'Exclusive comic' at the bottom of this post to get that feed. There's 40 here now!

Hello!
Some of you may remember this one from the quick comic I made a couple months ago:

And now I need to leave this room because I am melting! I'll be posting a new Patreon comic in the next couple of days!

Mélodie and I have finally made contact with our neighbourhood crows! They're quite shy, but that is eclipsed...

Sorry if that was a little disturbing for a Tuesday morning, haha. This comic was based on this quick comic I made a while back:

I'd like to do more quick comics! If you'd like to see more, please comment below with some one-word prompts and I will select a few to make some 6-minute comics for next week.
Thanks!

I know they don't last forever, but hooboy these rainy days feel long sometimes.

The warblers have arrived and I cannot get enough of them. My favourite so far this year is the black and white warbler, depicted in this comic. Getting outside to witness birds passing through seems to get more rewarding every spring.

I had different plans for this comic, as you can see below. Ultimately I took out one of the birds because the idea I had wasn't really working for me. I quite like the look of the two panels with the pair of gulls.

Mélodie took this hilarious picture of our cat, Caxi, and I instantly wanted to paint it. Not only is her tongue sticking out (classic), it also looks like such a school-picture-day kind of portrait. Reminds me of the time I hid my picture day photos in the bottom of my desk drawer because I thought I looked so bad. Being a kid was weird! I'm not finished with the painting, but I'd like to start working on my comic for the week so I'm posting it here in the meantime.
And here are som...
