Just finished updating the starting traits. I restored them to being at the start of the game. I also added some options, including:
1: "I'm new! Pick for me!" which basically attempts to pick a nice balance of traits that should help new players.
2: "Custom build" which allows you to pick your own traits, as before.
3: "Detailed questionaire" which asks a variety of strange questions to determine your starting traits, and bonus items are also awarded, based on player answers. Ex...

I just finished replacing all the silver chests in the game. My next tasks will be updating dialogue, adding extra rooms with more chests, adding the outfits at key points (and making sure to remove old chests with outfit pieces), adding skip option to events, adding more classes, and generally updating old stuff.

Well I finished the wood replacements, mushrooms, plants, etc.. I then kinda stumbled with the silver chests and had to think for a couple days about what to do with them. I decided to just have them completely different, and they will give random hairpins. You'll also be able to buy them from a merchant, but it'll still be cheaper to just find them. :)

Made a big push the last couple days with updating wooden objects, mushrooms, etc.. and made it through The Dungeon and Mines. The Crypts are the last remaining area.
After this, I'll be taking a closer look at chest rewards and going over each level more carefully, updating every remaining item there, removing outdated items (like chests with clothing pieces), updating dialogue, etc..

My tennis/mouse elbow recently flared up a bit, but it's quickly getting better now. Before that, I had managed to get to The Vinery level 4 with the wood/chest/plant replacements. That also means all of The Blackwood (and manor) wooden objects/harvestables/etc.. have been replaced.

I've started replacing all the lumber piles, empty chests, empty crates, etc.. with versions that are more compatible with recent changes. I'm also replacing the standard brown chests.
Sadly I missed a small thing with the crates so I'm doing those again. It's not a big issue if I miss one, since it's a mild graphical thing that you might not notice anyway (basically an extra frame plays in the opening animation, which looks a little wonky- if you notice it).

Just a slight update on the crate progress. All crates in the game have been replaced with a new version. The new version will allow me to easily edit all the crates without having to manually go through and replace each individual event. I still need to do the same with all the other wooden objects.

Just a bit more progress. I tried to work on the preferences yesterday but ended up messing up something in the script (yet again) and had to backtrack and start over with the preferences. Thankfully some copy/paste of the tightness levels did the trick.

I'm thinking of putting a "shadow" of the item required on the tables. Basically you put the required items on the tables (which is generally 3 of a kind) and the upgraded item above pops out and you get it. It then quickly reappears and you can get it again as much as you like. I thought this would be a much better system than a convoluted dialogue option with a jeweler. I just thought I would muse a bit about the origin of Sienna's name. It's actually derived from "Sierra" because I was always a big fan of their adventure games when I was younger. Well, I thought I was being clever, changing the two r's to n's. Funnily enough, Sienna is actually the name of a color. Not only that, but there's also a "Sienna the Saturday Fairy" character.

I just recently finished playing Child of Light, and the equipment in that game is very simplified, and yet it works really well. The gem system it uses is fun and I found it to be rather inspiring. I must admit that the wand durability system is pretty much broken (and fairly pointless). Not to mention that most players will simply not even use the wand after a certain point (unless of course you decide to go with a weapon damage build instead, which probably isn't ideal). Not to mention, it would be pretty annoying to actually have a decent wand using Sienna, only to have her wand break at an inopportune moment (like, say, a lengthy boss fight). Finally got around to this one. As of the next update you will no longer use keys Q through P to change equipped tools. You'll only use the E and R keys and cycle through them that way. This should work better for players who want to remap a controller's buttons. Not to mention the Q and W keys just did not work well with the script. It's also much faster now.

I've been brainstorming about Sienna's outfits and what type of system would be fun to implement for them, and how to encourage players to wear different outfits (or encourage them to wear the same one, just a bit longer). I believe rare, random items would be a nice reward. Those that increase stats (depending on the outfit worn), as well as awarding unique spells and/or perks.

Bebe made all of the adjustments I asked her for, and I've put the portraits in-game and had a look at them. They work really well IMO. I've gotten past The Vinery with the rock update so far. The Dungeon was a breeze, considering there's no actual rocks there. xP There were a couple ruby golem statues that I updated with the new system, but I didn't see much else there that needed converting (as far as rocks go anyway).
