Almost done

I forgot to share this here. This is video from Sweetie Bot pannel from a DerpFest.
Due to software bug we could not run Proto2 on stage there. The error has already been fixed, I hope we will not have problems on the Galacon.
Proto3 is still WIP and can't move, she can only stand on her legs. Unfortunately, we have not progressed on Proto3 since then. This requires a lot of work. Maybe she can move her head, but I can not promise.

Thanks to Ketika for helping us with a new fluffy mane and tail!
At Derpfest last year we showed a mane made of kanekalon. For Galacon we decided to experiment a little and made another mane made of artificial fur.
We will attach it to the body soon and make more photos.
Check out Ketika's patreon an devianart.

Galacon is very soon and we are preparing for it intensively. We are readying both robots, making slides, speeches and so on.
But there are not only robots we're bringing to the convention!
Our friend Shuxer is a very talented pony sculptor. He decided to support us a bit and make a Sweetie Bot figurine. If all goes well and he has time to finish it, we're going to put it on the charity auction.
Unfortunately, we can not promise this because the creation of figurines of this ...

We've diagnosed Sweetie with Debianopia. Nothing serious, that's a usual robots disease. She's already doing better. #Proto2GetWellSoon

Now it is possible to display the image of the eyes directly on the 3d model. Convenient for debugging.

Sweetie was very nervous before the control computer replacement, and it seems not in vain. Eyes didn't turn on straight away. And when they did, some mysterious letters were displayed on them. Looks like Sweetie tries to say something to us in her own language. She'll be fine. She just needs to get used to it. It's like when you buy a new PC and need to transfer all your files and configuration to it.

As we had mentioned earlier we are going to change the onboard computer from Raspberry Pi to the BeagleBone Green Wireless SBC.
Unfortunately our tests showed that the 1GHz AM335x ARM Cortex-A8 processor installed on BB is too slow for our tasks.
Interfaces are the strongest side of this SBC from TI, but the weak processor does not allow to use them in full force.
But now we found a single-board computer that we are happy with.
That's what we working on right now - a new improved body and legs.

We are happy to announce our attendance at Galacon 2018 as a panel guest!
Come to Ludwigsburg, Germany, 28-29 July to meet us and of course both our Sweetie Bots.
More information here.

A short WIP video showing our progress on displays we are going to use for SweetieBot eyes.
Since ponies usually have two eyes, we need to split one image into two displays. And it should be possible to show a separate image on each display. There is no simple solution here, but we have several ideas how to do it:
1) Color separation;
2) Frame-by-frame separation;
3) Line-by-line separation;
4) Pixel-based separation.

ThunderVolt borads Rev 1.2 is ready.
We fixed some small errors in the schematic, and replaced some rare components with common ones.

In these joyful and festive moments of New Year's celebration we appeal to our subscribers and express deep gratitude for the given support. Every your positive feedback and donations gives us strength to move on, to improve and make the project better and better.

As we noted on the our website - we are going to make Proto2 open source by the end of the year. But we were late by the appointed time, sorry.
The software is not ready yet as well as the hardware. We also need to translate all the documentation into English.
We want to create a growing open source community for this robot platform, so we must make it convenient for everyone at first release.
I hope we will f...

The proto3 we showed before is only a bench sample for a convention.
She can't move yet. Actually some parts are glued together :)
Anyway the goal was to show how the final robot would look. Hope you like it ;)
Soon we are going to disassemble it and replace some parts - shoulders and neck this time.
It's hard to say how much work remains to be done. We have a LONG To-Do list.
