Pulse 418 WIP 1

I thought it was obvious they'd want to try giving Annie Tabitha's upgraded suit and see if that allowed Annie to have the upgraded suit indirectly.  It doesn't work here though.  When they are wearing the wrong ring it's still the first suit for both, and when Tabitha gets her ring back it's the second suit for her.

It must have a way to keep track of the user.  You can't just upgrade the suit and give it to someone else.

Live on BABL 12

I figure Xom was once a live new reporter.  That would make sense considering her future adventures she would need to be- attractive, able to handle being live on the air, maybe even a known personality.

Aerith Selfie

Someone asked for MM Aerith.  I'm not sure what that would be yet.  Part of me wondered about something like this, but it would be the first picture in a set.  Aerith would be posting something like "Tifa who?", only to be replied by MM Yuffie who would congratulate her, but the picture would accidentally make Aerith feel like this wasn't a big deal, only to then be replied by maybe MM Rikku who was even bigger, and then MM Tifa who is even bigger than that.

I colored this page using Krita, instead of Photoshop CS2.  I really need to switch to something else because there are a lot of annoying glitches with using an older Photoshop with Windows 10.  Sometimes even a (save as, open, save for web) dialog will appear behind all of the open windows and I'll have to try to mess with it to make it appear above the open windows.  It doesn't always work, and I'll have to force quit PS, sometime losing progress.

Moving along.  Most of what's left is Richard and Tabitha.

The middle three panels will be almost identical.  I'll just draw one, copy it, and make the alterations I need to make.

They're running weather tests on it, Tabitha reminds them that it was already frozen once and couldn't it be damaged in a way that can't be seen.  Richard says that it should be able to repair any damage, but that he'll eventually allow Annie to take it apart.

1-31 Tablet Sketches

Okay, three tablet sketches.  Tell me if any of these seem worth inking, or not.

Way late to start this, so I'm putting it up for everyone.

Richard explains they have no idea what kind of process might trigger the suit to upgrade, but this chamber is used to test different elemental attacks.

Then there's a three-shot of the armor, one in heat, one in cold, one in something else (water?)  As they watch it be attacked with electricity, Tabitha reminds them it was once frozen (in that rooftop pool), and could it have been damaged?  Richard says they can...

I think this is a better brush choice on the tablet than something that looks more like a pencil.  It doesn't look traditional, but it looks sharper.

I realized that the Android Patreon app must have a pixel size limit, and images uploaded larger than that look bad.  So I exported to Dropbox and uploaded it from my PC instead.

Okay, so my thought here I need to start moving on from just panels of Annie going through tests and start switching it up.  So they're going to try more risky tests on the suit and hope it thinks Annie is still inside.  They'll fail at this point.

What I'm considering is that the other batteries with similar suits will arrive soon (maybe even this chapter), and they'll ALL have upgraded suits.  With Annie being the only one left out, it'll ramp up the pressure.  One...

Getting really close.  I still have to fix a few mistakes, draw Richard in a few panels, do all of the extra shading and lighting, and write the dialog.

I'm not sure if the transition from the first two panels is too severe.  Maybe I should redraw Annie starting to land in panel one, or indicate she's knows she's starting to run out of power?

So what's happening here is that Annie is dodging something that is attacking her (maybe Tabitha?), and she runs out of power.  They hook it up to a rig to make the suit think Annie is still inside to continue tests.

I think there's no way I won't be late, but there will be a page this week.  I'm like a few days out of whack, and it's always hard to re-calibrate without a bunch of extra time.

I figure that because Annie can only power her suit for an hour a day, they'd plan for a second set of tests each day for after she ran out of power.

I'm not sure if panel three looks weird.  I thought that Annie's breasts in her suit would stick straight up.  It's shaped to her standing up, so it would look weird when she's on her back.

Not sure I've found the right brush, and maybe I need to go have a third pencil layer so I go over it all again. Still working out the process.

I'm not certain exactly of the next page here.  Annie's going to run out of power and they are probably going to try tests of her suit without her in it.  Annie probably has a rig that'll power the suit.  Maybe try to fool it that she's wearing it?

I'm late, so this goes out to all Patreons.

I'm pretty close to being done, but I've run out of time right now.  I think I might need to go over the dialog again and spice it up a little.  I think I should have Annie yelling in the "anger" panel (where Tabitha is ripping a Jungle Girl comic).

What I'm going to do is have her power go out on the next page and they have to switch to tests on the suit without Annie inside.  I'm eventually going to move back to her mess...

My plan is to have him suggest they first need to test for an emotional result for her suit to upgrade, then with a narration or something on each giving a one word explanation.  So panel two might say "combat", panel three might say "pressure", then "anger" (Tabitha rips a Jungle Girl comic in half).

I'm not sure yet about the last panel.  I considered one to say something like "lunch" as a joke, but it might be something else.  On the next page, Annie runs out of power ...
