Working towards a lesson with coloured pencil and one about my alla prima technique meant making a LOT of head studies. I have selected the best of them to offer here.
Some of them will be features in upcoming tutorials while a couple of others are already available to watch. In fact some are from livestreams that you may have been drawing or painting along with! Whatever the case I hope that you enjoy them- and maybe you even take one home.
Please make all enquiries vi...

This video is totally silent and shows every single mark and erasure made to this drawing.
Why you need this:
A. You are a completist.
B. You are wondering what I did to some exact part of the drawing.
C. Visual ASMR
D. You want a motivational visual aid to have on in the studio while you work on this drawing.

Sometimes I will start a painting and after some reflection decide that I don't want to move forward with it after all. The underpainting here is thin and has been well dried for a month or so. The canvas its-self is a very fine and expensive lead oil ground portrait linen- which is why I want to save it.
This is what I do:
1️⃣ Start with some white and raw umber.
2️⃣ Mix to desired value.
3️⃣ Spread over the canvas with a palette ...

3. I am having a studio sale- it's getting crowded in here. This will be later in the month, probably around the 21st. Lots of coloured pencil works and paintings, academic works an...

This project is something that I have been working on for a while now and the 1st lesson is ready for release.
So, why make a series like this? Bridgman's books are great... and SUPER complicated to understand if you are a beginner. This series of video lessons are what I wished I had when I was just starting out in drawing.
What is in this lesson? Page 1 in his book: Bridgman's 1st thoughts on composition, construction and even a li...
