OMG you guys! I’m not gonna lie. I’ve been wrestling with these opening chapters far longer than I thought I would. I think the original draft of this chapter was between 12-14k words. Hoping to complete this opening chapter which has been kicking my butt. It’s now close to 17k words. I'm still fiddling with the annoying opening chapter because they address so many important topics. There's nearly two dozen versions of this scene from 2021 to now. This chapter is almost the length of a novella. 🙄 Editing what I wrote in 2021 and adding new stuff. They talk throughout the whole chapter. It's an insane amount of dialogue.
