Back after the New Year

Getting back into drawing again since the new year (been away at cons). I can't believe how rusty I feel after not drawing for a week. I really want to explore more iridescent coloring styles :) Also working on the comics and hoping to release another chapter this month :D

Knite ch3 render preview

After so much pain with Maya, we finally have everything working. Here's a test render of ch3 :D Soon I'll be able to work on it, and once it's finished I can finally start releasing all 3 chapters of Knite together :)

In other news, new strip of Fisheye Placebo will be out tomorrow!

Fisheye Placebo preview

I'm about half way done with the strip now. It's taking a bit longer than I had planned since the issues with Maya for Knite took away so much of my work time. Now that it's all sorted out I can focus more on this :D

Iridescence

I had a sudden urge to paint iridescent colored hair. It didn't really come out the way I had imagined but I still like the result. The Chinese on her back roughly translates to "humans must be selfish"

Above the Fog

 Daydreaming about the day when my SO and I can get some nice photos of the fog and the milkyway :D So in the meantime I painted it instead!

Dance with the Wind

 Another photoshop brush painting I did last week. Feels like I'm slowly getting the hang of the program :D I've been really into painting translucent hair and dresses. I just love the way light filters through them.

Backlit

Besides practicing environments with Photoshop brushes, I also wanted to expand beyond human busts to more of the whole body. So here's some more tests. 

Truth be told when I hurt my hand years ago I stopped drawing as much and I felt like my skills went down a lot. Now that I've been doing physical therapy exercises and can afford to draw more, I'm really excited to practice lots and get my skill level back up :)

Something different from my usual stuff. Now I'm testing out different photoshop brushes for painting environments instead of just portraits. I learned so it much and it both fun and challenging.

An older brush test I did a while back but forgot to post it. I think I'm ready to do some full body practices and environments soon. So far it's just been portraits which has been fun but time to expand!

Happy Families are all Alike

Edit: I noticed a lot of people on other social medias didn't get the quote from the book so just in case anyone misunderstood and got offended. It's not about happy families being bad (who even thinks that?) it's about how hard it is to be a happy family because everyone in the family must be good to be a happy family, but unhappy families are easy because it only takes one bad family member to become unhappy (like an alcoholic dad or a narcissistic mom, etc). This is actually a general concept...

More brush tests in Photoshop

Another Photoshop brush test I did a few days back. Some people asked me why I'm switching from SAI, I'm not switching but I want to expand my skillset and styles and being more comfortable with Photoshop is a great way to learn :) we should always challenge ourselves to new things.

In other news, my wonderful SO's family is visiting so I will be a bit mia due to that. I'll do my best to keep up with inktober though!

Brush test

Been experimenting more in Photoshop with different brushes. I'm still more used to SAI but I think I'm slowly making improvements. So far it's just been simple portraits so that I can get the hang of how the brushes work, but in the future I hope to do more varied work involving cities and different landscapes :)
