I have to recycle an older drawing again for the menu -- this last month has been BONKERS. Emotionally, physically, financially, task and event-wise, it's just been nonstop, and it looks like it's gonna stay that way for a little while. We're all doing okay over here, but it's been wild. Want to hear something weird? I had no idea what the South Downs looked like or honestly where it was. I knew it was by the sea. When I sketched this, I was thinking of Diamond Head on Oahu, which has a very distinct silhouette, looking at it from the right side shore. When I looked up photos of the South Downs, I was shocked to see that I didn't need to change the silhouette of the cliffs and bay at all. Kind of wild!

You may or may not know this, but Crowley's Globe outfit is my favorite of all his looks. He looks like your classic Faustian devil, like he just got back from the crossroads, one blues musician's soul richer. It's terrible that I've only drawn it once, from the waist up. Those dandy little shoes!

I imagine the transformation in ripples, like a squid's chromataphores firing out of control.
I started this comic out of spite after seeing some art that felt real mean, and "Candy Tongue" was an appropriate placeholder title. It's finally October, the month of monsters and mayhem and spooky stuff! And candy! And ineffable werehounds at the bar, discussing where to have dinner. So the last WIP was okay, it was kinda cute, but felt very stiff to me. Obviously, I used the symmetry tool for half of it. But I really liked the concept and wanted to make it feel warm and snuggly and lovey, so I gave it another shot, and I love it!
This will be the paper piece for this month, god willing, and we'll see how I handle coloring an entire black snake cause you know I'm gonna do every god dang scale. But it'll be fun.

This is for that Our Flag Means Death pinup calendar that's in the works. I'd posted the sketch a while ago, and meant to just do rough color, but I got carried away and this is basically the finished color. I'd call it done except that when you look closely, the sketch is still pretty messy in places, so I think I'm gonna have to line it. But I like him a lot! Nobody got style like Ivan.
The background is a little love letter to Lonicera, who paints beautiful violet skies.

At last I can share the final version of the piece I did for the Desiderata 2023 calendar, which is open for preorder now! It has a really phenomenal roster of artists, and they're also all of them really nice? That stuff matters to me, so there you go.
I'm gonna copy and paste what I wrote about this when I posted the WIP, for those who didn't see why this piece is very important to me:
Taiyaki for two! Could be any filling you like. I only just found out that taiyaki isn't just filled with ice cream, but can be stuffed with hot savory sandwich stuff, custard, anko, etc. I just like vanilla ice cream in mine.
