About roughly one week from now I should have a new beta out.
In this time I've had a chance to recover from the complete c: drive failure on DEC 28th, so while that was a bit of a setback, there's a few new large buildings in town and there will be a few more blocks of built-up city also (I will make sure of that this week).
Also in the beta will be whatever progress I have of the island military base. I will let you folks know how that's coming along during the time up to ...

Transformer blew out in town, taking out my entire c: drive File Allocation Table.
THE IMPORTANT STUFF WAS BACKED UP, HOWEVER.
I was able to save some of my work, from the drive itself, some of the large files DID NOT MAKE IT. However, this isn't a write-off, the project was merely walked back by the 2~3 days I spent unifying the abandoned mall with it's parking lot. That's the only object that was lost. We've finally hit 100% on what we're aiming for monthly on this project. I want to extend a big thanks to everyone on that, as that will really help when prospecting for assets on this map.

Immediate goals: Terrain work - that pink terrain, while okay for a freebie that So-Cal once was before the city grounds were broken (it was merely a road network, with not a sign or building in the entire map, made of mesh road bridges and tunnels), is not up to par with the game's stock maps, or some of the work by other modders such as DoullPepper (who's now part of the team at Beam) and Ouerbacker, among a few others.
To that end, I am picking up an indie copy of World Machine 2 this...

The abandoned mall update is in the works, much of the lot is done, and I am starting the building tonight. It should take a few days to build it. Once it's done and the collision is tested OK I will be shipping out the beta. I am hoping to finish it up by the end of the weekend but it could take me an extra day or two.

More behind-the-scenes progress.
Last update was an optimization update, thanks for the feedback from folks that had access, I must say it was a noticeable improvement for mostly everyone. Most machines with an RX 470 or better (GTX 1060 3GB) and an intel processor of 3.5ghz or better (4xxx series or newer, or 4ghz 2xxx series and newer), are reporting back 45FPS or better in all portions of the map, with reflections on (but not quite maxed out) and everything else turned up to max.

Slowly, but surely, performance is being improved. That's the current task first and foremost.
Expect updates in alternating content/optimization phases until performance is where it needs to be, or at-least as good as it reasonably can be, beyond throwing more fancy hardware in your box.
