Patron Poll info

Heh, should've run the poll in the beginning of October instead of this late into September. I'll call the result an IOU, since we're running so late into the month, so in October I'll have the poll-result video completed, plus hopefully whatever comes of October's monthly Patron poll, so I'm not playing catchup the rest of the year.

Semi-poor timing, too, since my family a few cities away from me is moving to a new home (their first house they'll actually OWN, not rent! *cue confetti*) in ear...

Looking for input on how I upload things:

So with computers and phones rapidly dropping support for SWF and other Flash formats, I have to wonder what is the best way to upload animations on sites like dA and FA, where the dying format is the ONLY way to upload animated videos (I know there's GIF, but that's very inefficient at longer videos).

What should the interactive animation entail?

Here we go, the first Patron exclusive poll, you help me decide what KIND of interactive animation it should be.

I'm ordering these by difficulty, ranging from easiest, most likely to succeed, and quick to make, to harder animations that might take longer to complete, or something I have a good chance of being unable to make.

If I fail, I'll pick an easier winner from the poll.

Some new tiers

Alright, finally added the tier for voting on what I should do and I picked 5$. I'll run at least one or two of the polls per month, minimum. As part of that, the top two results from each poll will be done, rather than just the top result, hopefully to prevent people swamping one option with so many votes that anyone else who shows up has no chance of making a dent in the option they like.

Tinkering around with Blender Cycles

Long story short, Cycles is a neat function in Blender that replaces how Blender simulates light and materials and whatever. It allows for much higher quality and more realistic lighting, but is demanding on a computer's GPU.

I tinkered around with it a bit and I realize that my GTX 950 graphics card isn't good enough for it. I did make a test picture (the second stereoscopic pic with the Zorua) but it takes a bit too long to render to be worth it in videos.

So as I expected, the interactive experiment got first place and the "make a new anthro" option got second place. My gameplan is to mess with the Blender Game Engine to see if I can at least get a "push button, make big" interactive animation running. I know there's a way to do it and I'm pretty sure I SHOULD be able to do it, even if it ends up being really simple.

Soon, I'll add another reward tier with the ability to vote on what I should do next, picked by YOU. I will run each poll once a month (maybe more, depending on circumstances) where you decide what I should work on next, something that is prioritized over everything but commissions. I'll run this poll publicly to make it easy to drop off any comments or concerns.

Overclocked!

Even though we haven't met the goal, I went ahead and overclocked my computer against my common sense. I only raised it about 0.6 Ghz, but it should take the edge off of render times a bit. I'll save experimenting with higher frequencies for after I've run it at this speed a little longer.

I figured I could drop this here for more people to see it, it's my work-in-progress list of stuff I wont do.

 Blacklist for requests. If you request these, they're probably going straight into the trash:
-Man bits, no matter who they're attached to.
-Scat/watersports/diapers. Being overfilled and leaking a puddle of the fluid on the floor's fine, though.

I've been uploading all of my new animations to MEGA, so I don't really need e621 much anyway.

Testing another concept:

This is something I'm going to play with a bit. Since this Patreon is mostly about supporting my animated endeavors online, I should be really transparent about as much relevant stuff (especially my computer) as I can. Somebody let me know if this is a bad idea, ha.

COMPUTER:

As you may have *heard*, I learned something new!

I finally figured out how to use the audio/video sequencer in Blender, so expect more videos that have sound. I'm still tracking down all the sound effects that fit all my needs, but my little library's growing, filling with public domain audio clips for all the little squeaks and pops I could ever want.

Alrighty-o. The situation with e621:

Between the 10-post limit and the fact I can't link there on dA, I've decided it can't be one of my go-to sites for uploading (although I wont stop anyone else from uploading there. Repost all you like!) 

I'm going to keep uploading to MEGA like I have been and I'll run another (!) poll to decide on a second location at some point.

Side note, I noticed that MEGA does video streaming if the file's a correct file type, so if I remember to upload things in formats that MEGA li...

Gotta say, I'm not a huge fan of the site. It's nice that it supports WEBMs and all, but I've never been a fan of these Booru galleries and the bajillion tags.

Current grievances:

1. Tagging. It's 99% of how users find videos, so I have to make sure to cover as many tags as possible and word them in ways that match how other users wrote their tags. A P.I.T.A., but it's manageable.

2. The ranking/scoring system. Numbered like-dislike systems are a big pet peeve of mine, since it usu...

A new piece of info that has come to light:

I went ahead and made a post on e621 using a super-quick animation I threw together in 30 minutes and two things happened that weren't expected.

1. It looks like dA blocks my link to it. I'll have to play with it a bit and verify that that's what it is and not an error on my part.

2. For whatever reason, my video on e621's apparently pending moderator approval, so I'm not even sure if anyone can see it yet.

We'll have to see how all of this pans out, if it doesn't work out, I'll go...

Looks like the winner is MEGA + e621, so that will be my normal policy, starting soon.

I don't have a specific date, so I'll just estimate that I can post to e621 a couple days from now. If I run into any more hitches, I'll just make some more polls regarding how to proceed, since I like the concept of getting the community involved.

I still have to wait a little longer on e621 before they'll let me post anything, but I finally read through the rules on the site and it turns out that they disallow anything human, unless the human character's just a side character and not the focus of the animation. As much as I've been making Pokemon anthros, I prefer human stuff, personally, so I don't want to be trapped on a site that will railroad me.

Maybe thinking about a third upload location.

The title says most of it, but yeah, thinking of having a third location to upload my stuff, preferably somewhere that supports filetypes that can work on mobile devices and such. Audio support is worth extra credit! Multiple choice, no limits on votes.

Success at something new!

That Latias model I've been using the last couple hours? Well, she's like 80% made from scratch! I normally edit the daylights out of models pulled directly from the games, but in the case of the Lati@s Pokemon, they don't have proper arms and they have little fins where their legs would be, so making something with a Latias was a bit of a goal, but I think my attempt looks alright! Seems to be pretty inflatable, too. The model was a pain in the butt to make, whew.

I went ahead and changed the goals to things that are more relevant for a little tip jar like this.

I mentioned in a few locations that I had relatives over for a couple weeks, preventing me from doing anything too serious on the dirty half of my computer, but they're gone now and I can start taking commissions soon. Thankfully I don't foresee too much interruptions any time soon.

Side note: I still have no proper system for commission prices, so it's currently a "make an offer and I'll adjust the cost up or down based on the difficulty" system.

Pokemon models are fun, TBH

As anyone who watches my videos can tell, I've been doing a lot of Pokemon stuff recently. I've noticed that Pokemon make great "blank slates" for a whole wide range of different videos, due to the fact that they're not very detailed in both texture AND model. Somebody stop me if I'm making too many! /wink

I just modeled a complete female reproductive system for an anthropomorphic Nidorina. I've already used it for a video where she's keeping a Pikachu inside, but I'm also in the middle of making a video that involves an automatic-pump dildo.
