Outback Colour rough

Reworked the rock a bit in this one and slapped down some test colour. I don't know if this lighting makes sense, but my gut says it's cool anyway. The flower is called schoenia cassiniana and is native to all of the deserty parts of australia

I got a sketchbook w paper that’s good enough to hold ink, so I’ve been enjoying myself doing some dev with nice pens I bought years and years ago but hardly used. One of them was still in its original packaging.

This is design notes I was working from to make the 3D model I posted recently. All the numbers are in flux, as I said I gotta find the right balance between population and density to get the overall size of this big round building sensible and as striking as I want it.

I have been learning a bit of Blender, because honestly I'm really testing the limits of what I can achieve in the old free editions of the software formerly known as Google Sketchup. I have some vivid mind-pictures of how I want some aspects of this comic I'm developing to look, like this ring-shaped building, but the perspective from the inside of a ring shaped building is super complicated to construct manually, so I really want to make some refs.

Tiny Tarot

I'm still exploring the possibilities of the printer and cutter setup I've been (perhaps unwisely) investing in. Today I wanted to see if cards cut in my silhouette cutter would be precise enough to stack up nicely, and they totally are, and the print quality looks nice too. These are very tiny; I set them up on one A4 sheet, but in theory they'd be a decent size laid out on A3.

I forgot there's 22 of them, not 21, so we're actually missing one in this 3x7 layout. Maybe I'd make sheets ...

I found a rly good unattributed lewd photo and did a painting study of it! I must be a bit off my game because it rly doesn't look anything like her, it even looks like a different ethnicity, which is pretty far off the mark. It still looks nice tho I think, even if the likeness didn't work ...

Dragon WIP

This is a really old sketch, but I've been meaning to do something with it for ages, because I'm so pleased w the dragon's expression. Monsterfucking and size-difference are rad, but I always struggle with monster design, so I'm happy this guy turned out good. I also tried to be at peace with using a much thinner pen than I'm used to. Really it's the same size but the canvas is bigger, but it's still a challenge. Not sure how I'll colour it, or when.

I've been sketching some sort of 3p dynamic w two medusa girls and a guy that I've been having trouble designing. Smaller one is 18-19, taller one is mid-late 20/early 30s, similar age to the guy. At this point I haven't decided specifically on what connection the gals have, so let's call them housemates. Art Couple Tries Slapping

Inked and coloured this, testing out a simple mostly flat coloured style. I think it turned out very cute, what do you think?

I've also tried to be less stuck in using my already-worked out character palettes, they are in some ways a crutch, in that they sorta hinder the growth of my colour-choosing abilities? If I pick colours each time, it forces me to think about the relationships of the colours, rather than just rigidly re-using the same set over again.

worked a bunch more on this, tried some painting over lines techniques, but didn't fully commit to it. Still it seems like it might be a process I could use to experiment with digital painting, to do a rough shaded line drawing and then paint over the lines. I think I've seen other artist talk about a process like that.

I worked on this for most of the afternoon, but I'm giving it a break for a bit. I often work myself into what feels like a dead end, but then coming back with new eyes always helps a lot.
