I got a new glass palette recently, which is an upgraded version of my previous one and I love it. However, I’ve been thinking more and more lately about how convenient a vertical palette can be. You place it right alongside the painting and can easily and seamlessly move your hand from the palette to the painting as you work.
I know many artists who use it and I've been getting quite a few recommendations to try it as well.
I’d love to hear everybody’s opinion on that!...

Today I decided to explain my approach to portrait painting because I believe some of you may find this useful.
The most common approach to painting portraits is painting from general to specific. In this case you begin a portrait with overall shapes and then develop them further going into smaller forms and details. And even though most portrait painters might agree on that general concept, they differ on how to put it into practice.
I do paint “from general to spe...

I’ve decided to make a post for beginners and give you my take on what supplies you should get to start painting with oils.
Materials you need for oil painting:
• Oil paints
My favorite brands are Gamblin Oil Colors and Nevskaya palitra; and I have some tubes of Winsor & Newton artists' oil color and Michael Harding.
When you’re just starting out, you can get some less expensive paints but I recommend staying away from ...

2018-10-09 21:40:13 +0000 UTC View PostHi guys, today I'm trying something different and writing a blog post to share with you one of the most helpful painting advices I've ever received.
There is a bunch of great painting tips I've gotten over the years but there is one that stands out as an incredibly valuable one, the one that still continues to stay relevant to me.. And that is, simply speaking, don't over-define everything and try to paint in a smoother, more subtle manner.
Let me explain. When we look at th...

This video was turning out to be more than 4 hours long 😯
so I decided to leave the final parts (from when I paint hair to the very end) as a regular time-lapse and focus solely on the part where I paint the face, which ended up being about 2 hours and 30 minutes long!
I hope this video will be helpful to you guys and you could see my technique more closely.
If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments; I’ll be happ...
