October Sketch Suggestions!

Hey everybody! So the Cincinnati Comic Expo last weekend has kinda messed me up this week, and I only just realized that it's less than a week until the new month, which means it's past time to post the new theme and start taking ideas.

So, obviously October is Halloween month, but to tell you the truth, I was a bit hesitant to do another horror themed sketch. Between Ryuk and the 80's Mini-Monsters, I was feeling a bit burned out on monsters. Then it struck me to turn to the other side...

October Sketch Suggestions (Secret Stash)

So, I know I said in the other sketch suggestion post that I was burned out on drawing monsters, but I just recently finished watching the delightful (and surprisingly heartfelt) "Zombieland Saga", an anime about a Japanese Idol group comprised of cute zombie girls, and with that on my mind, I decided to make the Secret Stash theme this month Monster Girls. Suggestions can be as general as "ghost" or "vampire", or you can give specific characters. I even have a coupl...

Cincinnati Comic Expo 2019 Sketches

Well, I'm back from the Cincinnati Comic Expo and I had a fantastic time. Business was good. Technically, I did about average sales-wise, but considering that con sales have been going pretty well bellow average this year, average felt like a decent boon this time around. And it was a lot of fun, too! Lots of cool people stopped by my table to chat and I got to see a few friends I hadn't seen in a while.

I also did a crap-ton of sketch cards. Admittedly, only two (and the full sized ske...

Pokemon Rocket

My second Nintendon't cover. (I didn't set out planning on calling them that. It was just a fun little reference in my last post to the classic Sega ad campaign, but the more I think about it, the more I like it.) I wanted to have this done in time to sell at the Cincinnati Comic Expo this weekend, and it really came down to the wire. In order to have it printed in time, I basically had to submit it by this mo...

The Promised Neverland

The Promised Neverland was one of those show where I knew I wanted to draw something for it the moment I finished watching it. Some doodling and a sketch card held me over for a little bit, but now I've finally gotten to do my full on print, and I am so, so happy with it. Everything just seemed to click while working on it. (Well, except for having to redraw Emma's hair, like, a dozen times. lol) I hope you all like it too. And if you haven't watched the show yet, I hope this maybe entices yo...

What Ninten-don't...

I'm trying something new, and I'm really excited for it. Mock video game cases!

Let me explain...

This is actually the culmination of a few different thoughts and ideas I've been having for a while. I've been trying to come up with some fresh ideas for stuff to sell at cons. Prints just don't seem to be cutting it the way they used to. Fewer people seem to be interested in them and those that do seem to struggle with their finite wall space. That said, people like having ... thing...

Ugh, Damn It...

I'm not surprised Patreon wouldn't let me alter the price of a tier. Less scrupulous people could have taken advantage of such a feature, after all. But I was really hoping they'd let me do it since I was lowering the price.

Anyway, it does look like we're going to have to do it the hard way. I'll be nuking this tier in a moment, so head on over to Patreon and select the new Secret Stash tier. Thanks!

Price Drop

Hey, everybody. So, after a lot of thought, I've decided to make a few changes to my Patreon, namely by simplifying and lowering the cost of the different tiers. I got to thinking about streaming services like Netflix or Amazon and how more and more of them keep popping up to the point that it's kinda killing the entire streaming business model and sending people back to piracy. And what is Patreon if not another streaming service, and who am I to compete with the likes of Disney? And I don't...

Cammy Sketchcard

It's Cammy White from Street Fighter. Had a bit of a blooper on this one - I was drawing from memory and accidentally gave her Misato Katsuragi's beret by mistake. To be fair, they are pretty close.

Con Sketch Cards

A couple sketch cards I did to keep myself occupied at this rather slow con. (Don't get me wrong. I'm having a great time. I have a bunch of con buddies at this show that I only get to see once or twice a year, and I've been hanging out with them almost non-stop, but all day Saturday I've made a grand total of $2 selling a couple buttons.)

Aaaaaaany waaaaaayy..... It's Jennika, the new lady Ninja Turtle from the comics, which I haven't read but look so good, and Ness from EarthBound, wh...

Poll Delayed, New Print Preview

Hiya, folks. It's 12:04 as I type this, making it officially the second day of September. Where is the monthly poll, you might ask? Well, it occurred to me that literally 100% of the people currently eligible to vote on said poll are currently at Dragon Con, so for the sake of no one missing it, I'm probably going to wait until Tuesday or possibly even Wednesday before I put it up. I'd apologize, but y'alls be out yucking it up at a big, awesome con while I'm shut in here in Ohio, so I guess ...

Emma (The Promised Neverland)

I recently watched the first season of The Promised Neverland and loved it! I ended up watching all 12 episodes in about two days and immediately knew I had to draw something for it. I have an idea in mind for a big print I'd eventually like to do, but in the meantime, here's a sketch card of Emma. I couldn't resist coloring her hair with copic markers.

September sketch sans suggestions? Scandal!

Hey, everybody! I know now is about the time when I usually start taking suggestions for the next month's sketch polls, but I'm doing something a little different this time. See, we've officially had five of these now, and I usually like to have five choices in my polls, and as such I thought it would be fun to revisit some of the ideas that didn't quite make it. Therefor I'm declaring September's theme to be "Redemption!" and it's going to be the second place finisher from e...

I was going through some files and realized that I totally forgot to post these sketch cards I did a little while back. It's Red Guy, Duck Guy, and Yellow Guy from "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared"!

August Secret Stash Poll Winner: Mei!

Man, for an arctic base, it sure is getting hot in here! Or is it just Mei?

Had a lot of fun with this one. I don't know what it is about lewd art, but something about it makes me feel more open to experimenting with new art techniques. In this cast, the blue glow in my cell shaded style was a new thing I wasn't 100% sure would work or not, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. Expect to see more of it in the future!

August Poll Winner: Sue Storm!

Wuh, whaaa? A poll winner post going up and it's not even the last day or two of the month? Will wonders never cease?

Sooooo, yeah, I had a lot fun with this one. Ended up having SEVEN different variations in total. (Three will be going in a Secret Stash post.) I'll admit, the "invisible" versions are half the reason I suggested Sue in the first place.  As for the different swimsuits, the first one was my initial design. I liked it because it seemed pretty in character for he...

Secret Stash Bonus: Sue Storm

So, as I mentioned in my main Sue Storm post, I made the picture using different levels in order to create an invisibility effect on the costumes. Of course, having her cloths on a separate level than her body naturally meant that I had a layer with just her body. And in the same way I was able to swap in a different bikini for the main post, I was just as easily able to swap in... other details as well. And, so, here we have a couple nude versions. (Or maybe she's wearing an invisible swimsu...

The Hues vol. 3 - NOW ON KICKSTARTER!

Alex Heberling, a really awesome semi-local comic creator, is currently running a Kickstarter to fund the third volume of her series "The Hues". It's a fantastic book that's basically a blend of Sailor Moon and Independents Day. And on a more personal note, The Hues was also a fairly big influence on my own book, Kona Guardians. So, to celebrate the Kickstarter campaign and to hopefully encourage you fine folks to check it out, I decided to finally draw a small meet up between the two teams. ...

July Secret Stash Poll Winner: Orion Slave Girl!

Boy, did I bite off a lot with this one. Funnily enough, I kinda had the opposite problem with this than I had with the "80's Mini-Monster" drawing. Whereas with that I struggled to come up with a basic idea/composition, with the Orion Slave Girl I knew almost IMMEDIATELY what I wanted to do, but then I had a hell of a time getting the image in my head to come out of my hand and onto the screen. See, I knew right away I wanted to do something in the style of the late great Frank Frazeta. It j...

August Sketch Suggestions

Even though I  know it technically last until late September, August has always felt  like the end of summer to me. I mean, you wouldn't know it by how  freakin' hot it's been lately, but at least in these parts, we're  already talking about Back To School and everyone's trying to get in  their last minute trips to the pool or beach. So, with that in mind, I  thought it would be fun to give summer one last hurrah by bringing back a  bit of cheeky fun that ha...

June Poll Winner: 80's Mini-Monsters!

First, I just have to say once again, I'm really sorry this is so late. The June poll winner shouldn't be going up at the end of July, but Real Life has been super hectic lately. My day job has been one outrageous trial after another for several weeks now, and I haven't had as much time to work on my art as I'd like, and when I HAVE have time, I haven't always felt up to it physically, mentally, and/or emotionally. But I think things might be heading back towards some semblance of normal soon...

July Sketch Suggestions

Hey, guys! Sorry I'm a little late getting this up. As I said in an earlier post, I'm up to my neck with stuff I need to do to get ready for a con this weekend. In addition to that, though, I'm also kinda having a week from Hell at my day job.

But, for now, it's time to start taking suggestions for July's sketch, and the theme is: America! Of course! With the 4th of July, what else could it be? I'm looking for characters that represent any and all forms of America...

Mystique Bonus Art

So the top request for my June "Redheads" poll was Mystique from X-Men.  This put me in a bit of a conundrum because Mystique also worked just as well (if not better) in my planned poll theme for July. Thing is, because she was so highly requested, she seemed like a natural winner, and both the June and July polls had other characters I was kinda rooting for, so whichever way I decided would basically mean sacrificing my pick. I was seriously thinking way too hard about the strategy of t...

Turtle Buttons

Finally got around to drawing Donnie and Mikey to go along with my Leo and Raph from the other day, scanned them all in, and threw some color at 'em. The plan all along has been to turn these into buttons, but, in addition to that, I kinda have an idea for a potential print I may work these into as well.

And, yeah, I'm suddenly realizing that I specifically left TMNT out of my 80's poll only to end up delaying the poll winner to draw some TMNT. Oops.
