on an unrelated note i was doing some folder clean up in prep for more DAZ models and the damn thing would not delete.  i ended up having to go into the CMD prompt to actually get rid of the blasted folder with all them dir /x prompts and stuff 

i have even more respect for programmers who need to deal with all that blasted code

i bought a game called warmachine a few months ago so i could tear apart the models inside.  adding in a bunch of other bits and pieces from my collection i came up with this design

i think it is ok as a perliminary idea but i need to do some reworking and really nail down what i want whatever that actually may be because i am not really sure what it is i want outside of steam punk -ish knight

ok starting to feel good overall again.  i loved many of the older comic styles and several European comics like Frezzato's "Masser" books.  so i am going  back to the xeno, taur and brightwing folios and get them right this time. also i feel the inspiration buzzing again for comics and 3d.  maybe try my hand at some animations

so after watching quite a few drawing theory videos i am trying to focus on my weakest parts.  namely color 

i am trying to use color more actively then the passive way i have used it in the past 

almost all my work to me has a "dull" feel to it and i am tired of that 

or more accurately i am tired of not being deliberate and in control of my color pallet.  i want it to be an expression rather then a chore

as i have been looking through my old works i find that, especially recently,  color and color execution is my weakest part

so i was looking up some color theory videos on youtube and i found this photoshop plugin called Coolorus.  the plugin gives you access to color selection tool based off several color theory setups, such as complementary, analogous and Gamut.  

i have a really hard time with color selection, even with 3d rendering i tend to have very pale and muddy color schemes. i hope this tool will make that selection easier by limiting the colors that won't go well together and providing a guide ...

so this time i tried a different work flow... with the first i tried my normal contour method you have seen before.  this time i did a blob of near flat color for the head and a darker shape for the eye area and mouth... i think this one has better structure

but in terms of color i am unsure due to my slight red green color blindness
