A note about the May POTM

The May Pic of the Month is finally finished! And I'll post it just after I post this.

But I wanted to say a few words about the inspiration for the POTM. I felt, though, that if I put this in the picture's post It would make the post too long. So I'm posting this separately so that those who are interested in my inspirations and my thought processes can read this and (I hope) gain an even deeper appreciation for the POTM; and those who just want to ogle the pic can skip this post.

And, while I'm at it, here's a little taste of what the May Pic of the Month will look like.

As for the rest of the pic, I'll give you a hint: this is a KFT (Kaijuu Fighter Tetsuko) illustration, so you can safely assume she's in a pitched life-and-death struggle against some huge, fearsome monster which already has something wrapped around her wrist.

Call for Questions? Yeah, why not?

I was this -><- close to foregoing the mid-month call for questions for the May Q and A video; I already had the question I'd held over from the April video, plus got three questions from one sponsor, and since the average video covers three to four questions,  I figured that was good for this month as well.

But then I thought, why not take some more anyway? Maybe some of my new sponsors have questions they'd like to see answered; so let's give them a chance to ask.

April Q and A is live

I thought it would take longer to produce, but I did manage to finish and post it just before the end of the month.

But there were sacrifices to be made...

As I mentioned before, I planned a "text" version of the Q&A because my voice was not up to snuff due to an allergy attack. (And although I feel better, and think I sound better than I have been, I still don't think I could get through a recording with my voice the way its is now.)

(NSFW) HyperTetsuko IS Pic of the Month!

Well, I've managed to get one project done for April, despite the health issues I've been fighting lately: the color version of the Hyper Tetsuko drawing I posted earlier this month.

I still plan to plow ahead with getting the all-text version of the Q & A video done tomorrow, but I gotta be honest: it's more likely that'll drop on Wednesday.

Voice issues

A situation has arisen that will affect the production of the April Q and A video.

It started yesterday with just a tickle in my throat, a little post-nasal drip... but by last night, and this morning, I started sounding like a frog.

I think it's just the allergies I'm usually subjected to this time of year kicking in again (and just a couple of days ago I was thinking I might have avoided them this year... guess I jinxed myself). I feel fine; no fever, no lethargy (well, no more ...

Call for questions! Call for questions!

I've got two questions so far (and they're pretty good questions, too!) for the April Q & A video, but I'd love to see more.

So anything you want to ask about me, my work, my characters, etc., leave 'em in the comments below! you'll see them answered in the end-of-the-month video. (So far I've answered every question I've ever received except one, and only because I somehow overlooked it when it came in.)

KFT #1 - New page!

Since I already promised that my patrons will get the digital editions of my upcoming publications as a Patreon benefit, I thought hey! why not post each page as it's finished?

It's frustrating; I've been working on some of my ongoing projects lately, but nothing I can post (yet). But I figure it's time I showed off something, so here's a sketch of HyperTetsuko I drew up a few nights ago.

Not quite finished yet, but maybe it'll be the Pic of the Month. Unless I think of something else in the meantime...

March 2019 Q&A!

You're familiar with the adage "A watched pot never boils"? Well, I guess the 21st Century equivalent of that is "A watched YouTube upload never finishes."

I'd posted less than an hour ago that YouTube was giving me an upload time of (at one point) over two hours for this just-over-12-minute video. So I figured I'd work on something else while I wait for the video to finish transferring.

Then I checked on the progress a few minutes ago... and something must've happened to speed up...

Q&A video is done, but...

...YouTube is molasses-slow in uploading it. In fact, when I started the upload, the page told me it would take 1 hour 28 minutes! (The previous month's video took about twenty-five minutes.) And as I watched, the upload time actually went up! It's now *checks* 2 hours 2 minutes, and only 9% is uploaded.

I think I'll just let the thing go, work on something else, then write the post for it tomorrow morning before work. 

By request: Tetsuko/Bikini Mask no background

This is (one reason) why I keep most of the elements in my illustrations on separate layers: so that when I get a request to re-post a piece without the background, I can do so with little effort. I simply hide the background layer and export a new JPEG. Easy-peasy! (do people still say that?)

Pic of the Month 3/19 - Tetsuko as Bikini Mask

Here it is: the finished "Tetsuko as Bikini Mask" pic.

...and hey, I got it finished within the week after posting the preliminary sketch, just as I'd hoped! Yay me!

I think I like the look of more-tightly penciled lines rather than inks on this piece; I might use this technique more often. What do...
