I revisited some old expressions I drew of him back in like, 2018...? and I found that the way I draw his face is much improved so I updated them. It was a little surreal because the characters themselves also grew since I first started drawing them, so it's kind of like looking through old school photos of them... like aw, they used to be so silly and catty!! 

I dunno how in character bernard's wink is but I saw that doge and needed to see what that looked like on him hehe

Hello! I dreamed about a demon who wanted to be good. He is very sweet, likes to crack jokes. His name is Johan (Yo-han) but he goes by "Jo", usually. He's felt a bit too personal for me to share much of on social media but he's also in the Witch's Cross world.

I usually kick off the new year with a birthday present for my SO! This is his OC Achika, and he's a tiger so it made sense to draw one for him this year.

I don't think I mentioned it here, but last month I was scouted to a studio for a cool gig, for which I am not sure how long I'll be on. The workload has been extremely front-loaded and keeping me busy, but I am enjoying it a lot. That's a part of why there hasn't been as many updates here... I'm still active in the Discord server, though! I've also been busy with holidays and such, and I hope everyone's been keeping safe and happy.

I have coincidentally been drawing some halloween aesthetics this month. The first one is a  new outfit for JC's OC Achika. The smexy ones are work for Dynamite comics. hush hush... also have a tiny imp Pandora from this post and a scary jaime lol

Also I have enough art and doodles squirreled away to share as rewards in the beginning of November. I also realized whenever I don't charge for the month, Patreon just sends out a message saying there was no charge so, going forth, I'll just let those emails be notice enough. I lost my brushes cos I had to reset my presets and for some reason they wouldn't save... so I was going through a brush pack by Jeremy Fenske I downloaded aeons ago but never really went through and organized (cos I only really like a few of them)

anyway I used the first drawing as a brush test and I attached my current list of brushes on this post, for anyone interested.

I have been revisiting old drawings and I kinda wanted to see the difference between now and then. I think it's a 3-year gap? There are things I learned to do better, like... how to draw shoes... and I started taking to chiselling the face a bit more, especially on men.

Also my watch series... going to revisit and revamp them...

little animations, as a treat

More than a decade ago, I used to dabble in a little animation. It's been very long but I wanted to pick it up again. I never made anything lengthy or extensive because I don't have the patience for animation but it's kind of an itch that I have to scratch sometimes? You might have noticed when I draw a lot of dancing it's basically just a bunch of key frames LOL...

The little bernya jam is something cute and silly I just doodled out while listening to some electro swing!! It's not real animation but it made me laugh so I hope it cheers you up!!

therapy sketches + charge PSA

Hello!

I'm not charging anything this coming month (so August is free) but I've collected a bunch of pencil illustrations from the past month of therapy that I was doing so I thought I might as well do something with them. I haven't scanned in all of them yet, but I was trying to draw out my feelings per session, so almost every night I made one Jaime drawing. I think I'm going to compile these in a PDF and send them out, so there will be a charge for September.

important announcement + sketches

Hello! I just sent out May rewards, and it will be the last batch for a while.

As some of you know, I've been struggling a lot in the past few years with mental health and chronic pain, resulting in me being effectively disabled. I kept bargaining with myself as to what to drop and what to keep, and I decided finally to put a pause on Patreon, along with my personal storefront, in order to better focus on my healing. 

What does this mean for you?
It just means I won't be charging anyone until I decide to resume services. The Discord will continue to run as is, and I'll continue to post art there. I will run another announcement before I resume payment cycles, so nobody is caught unawares and unprepared.

If you have an annual pledge, I will be sending you the remaining months' worth of past rewards to make sure that you're not owed anything in the meantime.

Whenever I do decide to come back, I might have my Ko-Fi set up. They are soon rolling in Discord integration and Tier rewards just like Patreon so the jump will be simpler now. I'm kinda waiting for their UI to be more efficient, like... with tags and photosets! I'm actually a "ko-fi ambassador" now so I'm kept in the loop of the development and feedback, which kinda happened unexpectedly LOL. I'll let everyone in the loop when I decide to purge this blog in lieu of Ko-Fi.

I also just want to say thank you all from the bottom of my heart for choosing to support me either way. Please feel free to stay free of charge. Like I said, I'll still be here being active, I just need to let go of some obligations because I'm ill-equipped to handle them for the time being.

rainbow birch revisited

So here's that one dream-concept I sketched out several months ago. I came back to it because I have a lot of emotional attachment to it and it bothered me that I couldn't get it to look the way I wanted. I gave up during the sketch phase last time because I simply didn't have the understanding I have now, about iridescent hues. It's been kind of a bummer that I can't draw half as much as I would like to, but while I'm down for the count I am mainly studying and absorbing information so when I am able to apply it, I can do it better than before. I may do this for some of the other dream scenery too.

Anyway It's still a wip at this phase but it's the general direction I want to go in! I hope this was interesting haha.

I drew a lot of gifts this month! The first one is... obviously out of my comfort zone but it was still very fun LOL I guess this is what happens when your friend is a pinup artist. His OC  is named "Xarope" [syrup], and her hair is literally made of maple syrup. I really enjoy painting liquids and transparencies so I wanted to try it. She is also a very thicc character. I have never drawn so much cake...

The second character is named Hayden, from one of my FAVOURITE webcomics called Hayden's Notes, by Yufei. It's a beautifully crafted story about a curious researcher (?) named Hayden and his spoopy occult hijinks. If you like Nallan from Cut Time, and secretly wish he were a little on the darker side, this is definitely for you LOL.

The third character is a personal OC of Zambi's who has yet to be revealed to the public.

regarding $1 tier

I have been considering moving the patron-only access content to $2 and above -- effectively making the $1 tiers into a free tip jar for me, and phasing it out from the board. I think having too many tiers can be confusing and I also want to make my workflow easier on myself.  I wanted to give everyone a little heads up about it before I start making changes next month (starting May 2nd).

If you decide to change tiers, Patreon should calculate and charge for the difference only.

Chapter 5 character concept

This is a new key character for chapter 5! I've had this character for as long as I've had the rest of the main cast that he feels like a little son to me ;-; I included the earlier design of babytove for reference -- they are kind of a set.

The second one is closer to his original concept, but I tried that asymmetrical look and I could not go back LOL.

I also got a job from M*rvel Comics to do a cover for Silk. We haven't gotten the paperwork in order yet, but I went ahead and thumbed out some ideas. They initially wanted me to do the standard cover (whose tiny black/white thumbs I doodled out while I was waiting on their correspondence) but when I asked them how Fashion I could make it, they changed their minds and said they wanted me to do a variant. The variant covers get to be As Fashion As I Want. hahahah!!
