Profile and 3/4 showing the general structure
Glutes are weird they hook into the body in a really unique way
Also they're usually a fairly healthy split of fat and muscle and the fat part is more prone to being pulled by gravity which is where the teardrop shape comes from

1 hr animation from memory practice
Pro tip if you want to get faster at drawing animate literally anything
Every time I animate it pays dividends immediately afterwards
By nature you have to draw a bunch of pictures (mileage) and you'll be heavily training your hand coordination if you're onion skinning
Someone's a little hot and bothered

Pic 1 is the gradient, surprisingly the final coloring stuck pretty close to it, I might try two-tone gradients and see what kind of results come from them.
Pic 2 is defining a few different color zones while staying in the red-green palette. The mane is a slight yellow shift, and the gradients in the arms are more clearly defined so that red is in areas with more translucent skin. Because the red is the "dark" color in this scheme, and I wanted the nails to be distinct, I made th...

Did this guy like a week ago
Pic 1 is the sketch I think I already posted but it's good the have it for comparison here.
Pic 2 is a kind of middle point in the lineart, and what I want to point out is how it doesn't look especially great here. I felt that way when I took the screensnip, just wasn't feeling the lines even though I liked the design. This is *common*, you'll see a ton of people talk about losing something from their sketch when they transition into lineart. I t...

Is it fluid is it air what's in there
I forgot to take prog pics for this guy and I had to fight the lines to get him where he is but he turned out cool
I can say you can look at his overall silhouette, and notice the zigzag that starts at his head, changes direction in the stomach, and reverses again at the mid thigh. This is the "energy" that I'm always pining for, it just so happens to be shaped like a bolt this time. I believe this is usually what helps ground a character and ...

Green!!!
Pic 1 is base color, green because I'm bad at using it and want to get better. I specifically chose one that I would never use to begin with.
Pic 2 is the majority of color segmentation added. I almost always go for a light-colored underbelly, and a dark-colored backside, as this is a common form of simple camouflage in nature. If you look at an animal from below, the sun is above you; the sun is a white light, so the underbelly of the animal you're looking at is li...
