Itachi just did his job ordered by the village to kill off his kin, his mother wasn't even a shinobi, she can't fight. We all know the truth is that Kishimoto twisted the story to make itachi seem good, even though in OG Naruto he was supposed to be evil. Kishimoto screwed up, Oda screwed up, and they're both trying to twist the story later on to make them one of the good guys.

Meaning he only cared about Luffy's life in that moment, but decided to lie and say he cared about his life as well. It may be stupid and reckless, but Ace is not the type to run from a fight if he thinks its worth fighting. You can say its dumb and that it got him killed all you want, and you're right, but Ace will still stay to fight impossible battles. That's Roger's son for you. Also, I think Dragon left Luffy so that he could work to help the world as a revolutionary. He thought that was more important probably. Garp left Ace and Luffy probably because he thought his work in the Marine was more important. AND Usopp's dad also left him to be a pirate because of the same reason lmaooo. Parents in this universe really just be doing whatever
