New York City actually has S tier tap water, perfectly safe to drink the only thing is that no matter how good their water/sewage processing is, your water quality is always limited by the cleanliness of the pipes in your building. New York has a lot of old buildings, so a lot of people do have problems.

2024-09-10 15:55:10 +0000 UTCWhen I was little and I had to visit my relatives on my mother's side, the tap water was good enough to wash dishes and clothes but not good enough to drink. It had a very metallic taste (probably due to high concentrations of iron).

2024-08-27 03:05:08 +0000 UTCWhere my family is from the water isn't BAD for you, but its well water, and it sorta smells sulfuric and is kind of rough on the skin. It's drinkable though. You just might not WANT to if it's not been filtered lol. The tap water where I live now is good for anything. I still filter it for drinking though lol

2024-08-26 09:07:13 +0000 UTCYeah the tap water here is bad in the us so I'd recommend filtering it. Because its got metals an common chemicals like chlorine, minerals, and fluoride an pfos microplastics an more. Its sad I use a water filter but even then its not 100% clean still.

2024-08-26 05:18:06 +0000 UTCAustralian here; and we're in an odd position waterwise. In terms of quality, we're pretty much globally ranked as having some of the healthiest tap water int he world; it's actually government mandated that drinking water has to meet like 200 different criteria before it's allowed to hit the taps. The problem here is the quantity; we're pretty much a desert outside of the main cities, and the yearly droughts are getting longer and hotter. Granted; they are doing their best to find more renewable methods of water, (mostly via ocean desalination) but until that point, it mostly comes down to placing moral and occasional legal restrictions on places to use as little water as possible.

2024-08-26 04:02:48 +0000 UTCI’m from DC, capital of the US, and sometimes, I get notifications on my phone to boil the water. In some states, like Flint, Michigan, they are literally known for having polluted water, to the point it’s unusuable, with several different types of lead poisoning the water. But in the US, bottled water is the go-to so I get cases.
