GUNBRAIN [update 3]

New comic GUNBRAIN progress continues! Spent about a week writing it, another week or two laying it all out, spent the last week LETTERING and PANEL-ing it!

Yes, I'm tackling LETTERING before I go full-blast on art! Crazy, I know! Here's my reasoning: Getting the banal stuff like LETTERING (and Panel Borders) outta the way first frees me up to go absolutely apeshit on the art, without worrying "What goes where" whilst I draw. Feel me?

And yeah, I'm talking the WHOLE book. I have all 40 pages completely laid out. Ok, one or two still need finalizing, layout-wise, but in general, the complete book is there. It is a real thing you could flip thru right now (tho it is mostly bones at the moment!). 

This approach to comic making is more like CHESS than checkers. It's not "how many x pages left" -- I am more COMPLETING the book in PHASES. 

I've gotten WRITING, LAYOUT, LETTERING and PANEL BORDER phases out the way-- now it's just time to beast out on art! 

I am confident I WILL have this book completed and ready for EMERALD CITY COMIC CON 2020 (March 12). 

So it is looking like GUNBRAIN will be our COMIC UPDATES ($3+) here on Patreon for March and Feb (in two 20-page chunks). 

Apologies for putting SHARKNIFE FM on hold momentarily, just as that launched. But TRUST, Sharknife FM is more a SLOW BURN. Once I resume production on that (in March, likely), we'll get back into swing on SFM. There is no abandonment happening there. GUNBRAIN just happens to be a solid one-shot comic, and people seem to be really digging it, so I am just leaning into it and GETTIN 'ER DONE ASAP! 

Oh yeah I made a couple new hand-written fonts for GUNBRAIN, too! 

This font is specifically for GUNBRAIN. I will probably make a font specifically for SHARKNIFE now, too. Prolly won't have HUGELY noticable differences-- but there is a lot you can convey with yr handwriting. A SHARKNIFE font will have more energy, for instance. GUNBRAIN's font (at least the "normal dialogue" one) is intentionally a little "immature" looking-- as the society in which GUNBRAIN takes place is somewhat uneducated.

Also, after ECCC, I will likely be modifying the TIERs just a BIT. Specifically the $10 tier. I'd like to get some kinda mail-out situation going on wherein some of you REYYYTRONS can recieve monthly items like stickers & zines. With COASTALVANIA going quite well now, I feel I can add that to my mail-out workload. What y'all think of that?
