I agree, Audrey, I think the fact Rumple had his hands on the dreamcatcher should've created reasonable doubt the memories were real, especially since all three (Charming, Snow, and Emma) had previously been framed for things themselves. They know magic is back in town, but they can't know whether there are any other magic practitioners around, so...yeah. As Snow said, it's a long list of ppl who would want to frame Regina. π€·π»

2025-03-13 18:08:28 +0000 UTCWhen I see Regina. break down , I see that moment when her mother had her up in the air bound by magic and Regina said in a small voice " I'll be good " . That is the voice of a severely abused child . I am not saying she has no responsibility for all the horror and pain she has inflicted . I am saying that she was manipulated and abused at every turn . She was literally imprisoned by her mother who had virtually unlimited power to force her to do as she was told .. Although she had the love of her father. He was powerless to help her .The only way she could break free from Cora was with the help of Rumple. He was determined to turn her evil enough to enact the dark curse . When she cast it at first she had no idea that she would need to kill her father . Her hatred for Snow White is really her anger and hatred of her mother . She was unable to hate and be angry with her mother about Daniel because it was unsafe for her to do so at every level. Then in Queen of hearts when she wants Hook to kill Cora we find out it is because she loves her mother yet her mother has convinced her that love is weakness . Regina was caught in that very common conflict of being horrifically abused yet still loving their abuser because they are their parent and because the abuser is convincing the child that they love them . Regina had neither the inner nor the outer resources to choose a different path . One of the things OUAT is truly brilliant at is showing how pain begets pain . I am betting that if/ when we get Cora's backstory we will find out that she too became who she is through profound pain! . I believe we can have deep compassion for the child within the villain while recognizing that there needs to be consequences for their behaviour .
