Chapter 193: Laying It All on the Line 

"Ashley" was sprawled on the ground, trying to escape in some kind of contorted position, but Roy flicked his wrist and a Strand of Binding shot out, pulling her back. 

"Trying to run? Did you ask my clothes if that was okay?" 

"Ashley" tried to break free from the Strand of Binding, but the Strand's resilience had been personally verified by the King of Greed, Mammon. There was no way whatever was inside "Ashley" could get out of it. 

Roy gave a hard tug and pulled "Ashley" back, followed by a fist the size of a softball. 

"Ashley" went down and immediately fell into a deep sleep. 

Seeing how hard Roy hit her, Needy couldn't help but feel a little worried. 

"Roy, do you think you hit her too hard?" 

Roy raised an eyebrow. 

"Did you see what Ashley did today? Don't you want to hit her?" 

This made Needy a little embarrassed. Ashley's behavior today had really been asking for it. Even with Needy's sweet nature, it was almost too much to bear. 

Not to mention Jennifer, who wasn't known for her patience. She gave the back of Ashley's car a good hard slap to vent her frustration. 

"You're right, Roy!" 

After slapping the car, Jennifer noticed someone peeking out of a classroom window and immediately glared back fiercely. 

"What are you looking at?!" 

Roy turned around, and the person in the classroom immediately ducked back inside. Wade's voice could be heard from within. 

"Boss, I'll keep an eye on them for you!" 

Roy suspected that Wade was the one who had been peeking, along with Carly and Peggy. Those three were the most curious and loved to spread gossip. 

"Wade, if I hear any weird rumors going around school tomorrow, you know the consequences." 

Hearing this, Wade quickly ran out to make a guarantee. 

"Don't worry, Boss! If anyone at school dares to say anything bad about you, I'll beat them up for you!" 

"Remember that!" 

Roy slung Ashley over his shoulder and headed out of the school building. 

It was currently the break between classes, and there were many students playing and running around in the hallways. They were all a bit surprised to see what Roy was doing. 

Wade acted like a lackey, shooing people away. 

"What are you looking at? Boss Roy is just taking a female classmate to the hospital!" 

Roy's face darkened. He felt like Wade's explanation would only make things harder to explain tomorrow. 

"Shut up, Wade!" 

The rest was pretty simple. Roy and Jennifer drove Ashley home, while Needy called in sick for all three of them. 

As for Wade, he went back to class after seeing Roy to the door. 

On the way, Ashley woke up once, struggling violently and trying to jump out of the car. Roy had no choice but to knock her out again and then use the Strand of Binding to wrap her up like a burrito. 

When they arrived at Ashley's house, Roy started calling Samantha. 

However, in his haste, Roy had forgotten one very important thing: Ellureesa. 

"Daddy!" 

Ellureesa, who was watching cartoons, smelled Roy's scent and suddenly jumped onto his back, making Jennifer very confused. 

Because judging by Ellureesa's mature body, she should be older than Roy. 

"Ellureesa, get down now!" 

"Daddy, no! You haven't come to see me in days!" 

Jennifer's gaze became even stranger. She could tell that Ellureesa genuinely saw Roy as her father; it wasn't some kind of weird fetish. 

So, the question was, where did Roy get such a grown-up daughter? 

Roy quickly explained, "Jennifer, this is a succubus I brought back from Los Angeles. Her soul was reshaped, so she's like a child and keeps calling me Daddy." 

Jennifer nodded. 

"Oh, I see. I thought you had awakened some kind of new, special fetish." 

When Jennifer spoke, Ellureesa finally noticed there was someone else there. 

"Daddy, is she a mommy too?" 

Roy's face darkened. He felt like some things were about to be exposed. 

"Little Ellureesa, how many mommies does your daddy have?" 

Ellureesa immediately started counting on her fingers. 

"Mommy Dahlia, Mommy Heather, Mommy Penny, Mommy Sultana, Mommy Amy... so many mommies, I can't even count them all!" 

Jennifer gave Roy a meaningful look, causing Roy to break out in a cold sweat. 

"Haha, Ellureesa is just joking!" 

"Joke? Daddy, what's a joke?" 

"Shut up, Ellureesa!" 

Thankfully, the Waterfall Town Police Station wasn't far away, so Samantha arrived quickly. 

As soon as she got home, Samantha saw the unidentified creature wrapped in black, unknown material, Roy and Jennifer, and Ellureesa on Roy's back. 

"Roy, what happened?" 

Roy explained to Samantha what Ashley had done that morning, immediately shocking Samantha beyond words. 

"How could this be? Why would Ashley do something like this?" 

"Samantha, don't worry! We suspect Ashley might be possessed by something, so we wanted to ask if you knew anything." 

Samantha forced herself to calm down. After all, her daughter's safety was at stake. 

"Ashley was perfectly normal on Saturday night. Something must have happened to her yesterday during the day! But I was at work all day yesterday..." 

Roy frowned slightly. 

"Does Mikey know anything?" 

Samantha was taken aback. She had been so upset last night that she had indeed forgotten to ask her younger son about Ashley. 

"I'll go pick up Mikey right now. He must know something!" 

As she said this, Samantha hurried out. 

At this moment, Ashley seemed to wake up again and began to twist and struggle constantly. 

Roy had used quite a bit of force earlier, so whatever was possessing Ashley must have a decent constitution. 

However, it wasn't very strong, completely unable to break free from the Strand of Binding. 

"Roy, should we let her out and ask what she is?" 

Roy looked around at the scene. A Nephilim, a witch, a succubus – this lineup could easily handle most demons and monsters. 

"Okay, I'll release the Strand of Binding. You guys get ready." 

Roy suddenly retracted the Strand of Binding, and a large number of moths suddenly flew out of Ashley's body, filling the sky like a black cloud.

Jennifer was startled by this sight. Girls always had an instinctive dislike for small flying insects. 

Ellureesa, on the other hand, found it very interesting and giggled. 

Roy immediately unleashed his Fear Domain. The aura of fear swept through the room like a storm. 

Although the moths weren't very intelligent, their bodies were too fragile. After being attacked by the aura of fear, they died instantly. 

The dead moths fell to the ground like rain, and then Ashley suddenly jumped up, defying gravity as she clung to the ceiling, her head twisted 180 degrees to look at Roy and the others. 

At this time, black lines covered Ashley's face, and black, viscous liquid was dripping from her mouth, making her look about half as attractive as before. 

"Who are you? Why are you possessing Ashley?" 

"Ashley" let out an unpleasant laugh, sounding particularly like some kind of insect. 

"Hehehe, you haven't answered my question yet! Are you Roy Black?" 

Roy frowned deeply. This thing seemed very concerned about the name Roy Black. Why was that? 

"I am Roy Black. Tell me why you're possessing Ashley!" 

"Ashley" let out a low laugh. 

"This girl made a pact with me, asking me to win the heart of a boy named Roy Black! Now, how about you just give me your heart?" 

Roy's face darkened. So that was why Ashley was possessed by this thing. Literally ripping out his heart, huh? 

Jennifer, who was standing to the side, couldn't help but laugh when she heard "Ashley's" words. 

"So, that's how you get his heart!" 

Ellureesa didn't know what was going on, but she laughed along. 

This made Roy's face turn several shades darker. If this continued, he'd end up with the same skin tone as Gerald. 

Just at this moment, "Ashley" lunged at Roy. 

"Give me your heart!" 

"Get the hell away from me!" 

Roy kicked "Ashley" away. He hadn't quite controlled his strength, and Ashley was sent flying several meters, crashing into the sofa. 

"Ashley" quickly got up, looking at Roy in disbelief. 

"That's impossible! You're definitely not a normal person!" 

"Who the heck told you I was normal?" 

Just then, Samantha returned with Mikey. 

The mother and son were both very surprised to see the floor of the living room covered in dead moths and the bizarre Ashley. 

"Ashley!" 

"Sister!" 

"Now's not the time for calling out names! Mikey, did anything unusual happen yesterday?" 

"Ashley" sensed danger and immediately pounced on Mikey. 

"Don't say anything!" 

Then, this stubborn thing was kicked away by Roy again. Samantha's heart tightened at the sight. 

Mikey was startled by Roy's actions and stammered as he answered Roy's question. 

"Yesterday, I found a strange wooden box in the attic and asked my sister to come look at it with me. Would you consider that something unusual?" 

Roy observed "Ashley's" reaction and noticed that this thing was very nervous. It was very likely that this wooden box was the cause of the problem. 

"Where is that wooden box?" 

"My sister took it back to her room." 

Roy gave Jennifer a look, and she immediately understood, running towards the stairs. 

"Ashley" tried to stop Jennifer again, but she was pulled back by the Strand of Binding that Roy threw out. 

"Roy, could that wooden box be the problem?" 

"It's possible." 

Before the truth was revealed, anything was possible, and many demons were very good at deception. 

For example, during the Cleansing incident, the two fake priests had been completely fooled by Mapa. 

Soon, Jennifer came downstairs with an old-fashioned wooden box. 

"Is this it?" 

Mikey nodded repeatedly. 

"That's the one!" 

Roy took the wooden box and immediately recognized what was written on it. It was ancient Hebrew. 

This was the same language used to record the Keys of Solomon, so Roy automatically understood it. 

"Evil spirit?" 

So, this was a wooden box used to seal evil spirits. It seemed to be made of some kind of oil. He wondered what its purpose was. 

But just knowing it was an evil spirit wasn't enough. Because Ashley had made a pact with this evil spirit, it was now one with Ashley. 

This situation was similar to Lilith and Jennifer's. Hurting Lilith meant hurting Jennifer. 

Similarly, hurting the evil spirit would also hurt Ashley. 

He needed to know the true name of this evil spirit to safely exorcise it from Ashley's body. 

"Ashley" seemed to realize Roy's intentions and began to threaten him. 

"Human, you won't be able to drive me out of this girl's body! I'll take her to hell with me!" 

Samantha covered her mouth, her eyes red-rimmed, feeling incredibly scared. 

"Roy, Ashley will be okay, right?" 

"Relax, Samantha. Whatever's inside Ashley is feeding off your fear! You should probably take Mikey and leave this house so you don't get in my way. Oh, and take Ellureesa with you too." 

Samantha hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she chose to trust Roy and took Mikey and Ellureesa out of the house. 

Ellureesa was actually a bit reluctant, but what could she do when her daddy had spoken? 

If she didn't want to get a spanking, she had no choice but to go outside obediently. 

"Let's see what your real name is." 

Boxes used to seal evil spirits usually had the name of the spirit or demon sealed inside as well; otherwise, it would be impossible to contain them. 

"Ashley" still wanted to struggle one last time, but as soon as Roy unleashed his Fear Domain, the thing immediately collapsed on the ground, unable to move. 

"Let's see what's in here: rocking horse, molar, moth... weird, why isn't there a name?" 

"Ashley's" mouth stretched open, and a long tongue lolled out. 

"Who exactly are you? My master won't let you get away with this!" 

Hearing this, Roy snapped his fingers. 

"So you have a master! Perfect! You have your master, and I have my higher-ups. We can compare notes!" 

"Ashley" lay on the ground, struggling to answer Roy. 

"My master is the great King of Envy!" 

Roy's expression changed. Leviathan again? 

From Warehouse 36, to Emma's awakening, and now the thing possessing Ashley, this was the third incident in a row related to Leviathan. 

At this moment, Jennifer noticed a strange ring on Ashley's finger. 

"Roy, look at the ring on Ashley's finger!" 

Roy looked down and indeed saw an old and strange ring on "Ashley's" hand. 

This thing had been deliberately hiding the ring, so Roy hadn't noticed it before. Jennifer was definitely more observant. 

"Ashley's" face changed, and she immediately shoved the finger with the ring into her mouth, looking like she wanted to bite off her finger and swallow the ring. 

"Give me the ring!" 

Roy immediately jammed his fingers into "Ashley's" mouth. "Ashley" bit down hard, as if trying to bite off Roy's fingers as well. 

Unfortunately, this thing underestimated Roy's defense. The bite nearly cracked its own teeth, while Roy's fingers only had some teeth marks on them. 

It took Roy a bit of effort to pull his fingers out of "Ashley's" mouth, and then he started trying to take off the ring. 

However, "Ashley" kept struggling, making it difficult to pull off, and he might end up breaking Ashley's finger. 

"Jennifer, go to the kitchen and get some butter! The melted kind!" 

Chapter 194: Moths 

Life hack alert! 

What do you do if you can't get a ring off your finger? Just put some grease or soapy water on it, and it'll come right off! 

Roy had run into this kind of thing in the past, but back then he used cooking oil. They probably don't have cooking oil here in America, but they definitely have butter. Butter's usually solid, so Jennifer would need to heat it up a little to use it. 

"Ashley" seemed to realize what Roy was about to do and struggled even harder, but its physical abilities were no match for Roy. After all, it was just a minor demon, and if it weren't currently bound to Ashley, Roy could have definitely dealt with it in an instant. 

"Roy, the butter's here!" 

Jennifer brought over a plate of clearly melted butter. The reason she wasn't holding it was because melted butter is too slippery to grip. There's a term called "butterfingers" that describes someone who's so clumsy they can't hold onto anything. When Roy grabbed the butter, it almost slipped right out of his hand, but luckily he was quick and caught it. 

Seeing this, "Ashley" made one last desperate attempt. Her neck arched back beyond the limits of human spinal flexibility, almost 90 degrees, and she opened her mouth wide. Countless pitch-black moths flew out of "Ashley's" mouth. This time, these moths weren't just for show; they would attack and bite Roy and Jennifer. 

Roy's physical stats were naturally high, so the moths' bites felt like a tickle to him. And Jennifer possessed an incredible healing ability. She just needed to protect her face, which she cared about most; if they bit her anywhere else, so be it. The only real problem was that the moths flying into their faces severely impaired their vision. Roy didn't even dare to open his mouth to speak, as it would be too disgusting if a moth flew in. 

Fear Domain, activate! 

He activated the Fear Domain again, but this time the effect of the fear aura was very weak. It was possible that "Ashley" had strengthened the moths' physical constitution, making them immune to the first round of mental attack from the fear aura. Once they were immune to the initial forced damage, the moths could ignore the effects of the fear illusions due to their low intelligence. However, "Ashley" herself couldn't resist the fear illusions and instantly stopped spewing out moths as if she had something stuck in her throat. Good opportunity! 

Roy closed his eyes and forcefully smeared the butter on "Ashley's" ring finger, then gave it a strong tug, and the ring was in his hand.

The only way for Roy to deal with these moths was to transform into his demon form and set them on fire, but doing so could easily hurt Ashley. So, he figured Jennifer was a witch who had been studying with the First Witch Lilith for some time and should have learned some witchcraft. 

"Leave it to me!" 

A few seconds later, Roy felt the surrounding temperature plummet. The room temperature rapidly dropped below freezing. As the temperature fell, the moths couldn't fly anymore and soon dropped to the ground like flies, freezing to death. 

At this point, Roy was finally able to see what was engraved on the ring in his hand. The front of the ring still had the symbol of Leviathan, but on the back it said "Mothman". (The demon's name in the movie was Abisu, but it's been changed here.) 

"Mothman? What the heck kind of name is that?" 

Jennifer paused for a moment after hearing the name. "I think I heard Needy mention that name before. It seems to be a pretty famous folk legend on the East Coast." 

Needy really loves surfing the internet, especially collecting strange and bizarre rumors online. This hobby is second only to playing video games for her. 

"Who cares what it's called! Mothman, in the name of God, I command you to get out of Ashley's body immediately!" Roy didn't know the complete exorcism ritual; it was too complicated, so he could only try if the name itself could drive out the Mothman. 

After the Mothman's true name was called out, it looked to be in a lot of pain. Ashley's skin even started to writhe and twist, as if a hand under the skin was about to burst through. 

"No—I won't leave this girl's body, or I'll die with her!" 

This was a bit of a problem. The Mothman seemed to realize that Roy didn't want to hurt Ashley, so it decisively used her to threaten him. However, Roy, who possessed the key to Solomon and its core technology, wasn't afraid of some nameless, worthless trash demon. If the Mothman refused to come out, it would just make things a little more complicated for Roy. 

"Jennifer, help me tie up Ashley. I'll get the ritual ready." Roy handed the cursed hair to Jennifer, intending for her to tie up "Ashley" again, while he took out the things to draw a magic circle from his inventory. 

"Ashley" glared fiercely at Jennifer, constantly cursing her. Jennifer ignored it, tightly binding "Ashley's" limbs with the cursed hair. Suddenly, blood started dripping from Jennifer's nose, drop by drop, onto the floor. "You bitch, anyone who gets in my way will die! All of you will be devoured by moths..." Jennifer wiped away the blood with a straight face. This little bit of curse damage couldn't hurt her; that's the confidence her witch talent gave her. However, "Ashley's" words had really angered Jennifer, so Jennifer slapped her across the face. 

"Shut up, you bitch!" 

Yeah, that slap had a bit of personal grudge behind it, but Roy didn't stop Jennifer. After all, the Mothman's language was pretty nasty. 

Soon, Roy used his own blood mixed with some gold powder to draw a hexagram magic circle, just big enough to fit Ashley's body inside. 

After finishing, Roy stood in front of "Ashley" and looked down at her. "This is your last chance. Leave Ashley's body immediately. At most, I'll just seal you back; otherwise, the only thing waiting for you is death!" 

The Mothman was incredibly stubborn and even spat a mouthful of pitch-black saliva at Roy. Naturally, the spit didn't reach Roy, but it still made him very angry. 

"You chose this yourself!" Saying that, Roy removed the cursed hair from "Ashley's" body and placed her inside the magic circle. Instantly, "Ashley's" body seemed to be sucked onto the floor, her whole body spread out in a T-shape on the magic circle. Her head, hands, and feet were placed on five corners of the hexagram, with only the bottom corner empty. If Roy were lying on this hexagram, he definitely wouldn't have left that bottom corner empty. Golden chains extended from the corners of the hexagram, completely binding "Ashley". This made the Mothman panic. 

Many people take chances, as they say, you don't cry until you see the coffin, and the Mothman was no different. After all, few people really know about exorcism, and Roy didn't look like a priest. The Mothman thought Roy was just trying to scare it. Who would have thought Roy actually knew occult exorcism methods? "Wait, I'm willing to leave this girl's body. Let me go!" Roy looked at "Ashley" with a cold smile. 

"It's too late!" 

The binding magic circle Roy was currently using was an enhanced version of the one he had used to imprison Sadako and Kayako. Now that the Mothman was completely restricted, the next step was to force it out of Ashley's body. Roy smeared his own blood on Ashley's forehead and began to chant the exorcism incantation. Generally, demons with names have their own specific exorcism words, but the Mothman clearly didn't fall into that category, so a standardized exorcism incantation would suffice. "Fallen spirit, Mothman, in the name of Belial, King of Sloth, I command you to leave this girl's body!" While chanting, Roy sprinkled exorcism powder on Ashley. This powder was made from a mixture of salt, silver powder, and various substances with exorcism properties, and it was generally effective against most demons. 

With her limbs and head all bound, Ashley's torso strangely arched upwards, then fell back down heavily after Roy finished the incantation. Ashley's body then began to convulse violently. Suddenly, she opened her mouth wide, and a pair of hands actually came out! (That scene from the movie poster.) A twisted, furry humanoid creature crawled out of Ashley's mouth. This thing was about as tall as Roy and had a pair of insect-like wings on its back. It had no head, but a pair of scarlet eyes on its chest. As soon as it appeared, the Mothman let out a high-pitched shriek that human ears couldn't detect. This shriek made Jennifer, who was standing nearby, cover her ears in pain, but Roy just frowned slightly and continued to control the binding magic circle. 

The binding magic circle extended golden chains again to tie up the Mothman. "Call your mom!" Roy directly activated his Dark Touch ability. Four pitch-black tentacles extended from his back and pierced into the Mothman's body. This time, the creature couldn't make a sound anymore. 

[Ding! Obtained the Mothman's Fate Treasure Chest! Open it now?] 

Soon, the Mothman's body was devoured by the Dark Touch, leaving only some empty shells and wings on the ground, and Roy received a new Fate Treasure Chest. So now Roy had three treasure chests. Should he find a chance to open them? Samantha, who had been outside, heard no more noise from inside the house, so she plucked up her courage and came in to ask, "Roy, is everything okay?" 

"Samantha, Ashley's problem has been solved. You can come in." Samantha immediately came in with Mike and Elrêsa. She ignored the moth corpses all over the floor and rushed towards Ashley, who was lying in the magic circle. "Ashley, are you okay?" 

As if she heard her mother's voice, Ashley slowly opened her eyes. "Mom... cough, cough, cough, ugh—" Just after saying those two words, Ashley started coughing violently and then vomited a large amount of black mucus, which had things that looked like insect eggs in it. 

Samantha looked at Roy nervously. "Roy, what's happening?" 

"The evil spirit inside Ashley has been killed. The vomiting is just an aftereffect; she just needs to rest for a bit and she'll be fine." Ashley looked very weak after throwing up, but she still tried to move her mouth and apologized to everyone in a weak voice. "Roy, I'm sorry! Jennifer, I'm sorry!" 

It seemed like Ashley was genuinely sorry, even apologizing to Jennifer, her love rival. However, Jennifer shook her head, not to reject Ashley's apology. "You should apologize to your mother more!" To be honest, Jennifer envied Ashley for having a mother like Samantha who cared about her so much. After all, Jennifer's own mother had passed away when she was very young, and she hadn't felt a mother's love for a long time. 

Hearing this, Ashley paused, then looked at her mother. Samantha's eyes were red-rimmed, and her face was full of worry. She touched Ashley's forehead. "As long as you're okay, Ashley!" Ashley hugged Samantha. "I'm sorry, Mom!" The mother and daughter embraced and cried. They must have truly made up now. 

This scene was a bit much for Jennifer. She, who always seemed like an ice queen, had tears welling up in her eyes, like she was about to lose it. "Daddy, why are they crying?" Elrêsa poked Roy's arm, looking curious. 

"They're just so happy." 

"Do you cry when you're happy too? But Samantha told me you only cry when you're sad!" 

"You can cry whether you're happy or sad. Let's go outside and not bother them." Saying that, Roy put one arm around Jennifer, who was secretly wiping away tears, and picked up the very curious Elrêsa with his other arm as they left the Parker's house. 

The Parker family probably had a lot to deal with today, so Roy just decided to take Elrêsa home for the day and bring her back to Samantha's tomorrow. Besides, Jennifer had already seen Elrêsa, and knowing her, she'd definitely tell Needy. There was no way to keep it a secret. 

Luckily, Elrêsa had generally been pretty well-behaved, except for that incident with the eight-legged monster when her brother had led her astray. 

Since he had already taken the day off, Roy decided not to go back to school and took Jennifer and Elrêsa back to his place. 

Not long after getting home, Roy suddenly received a call. At first, he thought it was Needy calling to check in, but when he looked at his phone, he saw it was Gerald. Strange, why would Gerald be calling him out of the blue? 

"Hello, Mr. Morin, what's up?" 

"Mr. Black, there are indeed some things I wanted to talk to you about." Gerald's voice on the other end of the line sounded pretty relaxed, which was probably a good sign. 

"Oh? Go ahead!" 

"It's about that situation in Nevada. I really tore a chunk out of Amalgam and also managed to get you a bigger bonus. Soon, that twelve million dollar hush money will be wired to your studio account!" 

"Woohoo! That's great news!" Roy couldn't help but feel happy. "That's fantastic!" 

"However—" Gerald's voice suddenly turned serious. 

"But what?" 

"I heard that Amalgam is looking into you. Knowing that company, they might try to cause you some trouble, so you'd better watch out!" 

Roy raised an eyebrow. "Would they still dare to mess with a federal agent?" 

"They definitely wouldn't dare to do it openly, but behind the scenes..." Gerald's meaning was pretty clear. 

"I understand. I'll be extra careful lately." 

Just as he hung up the phone, Roy heard a strange sound coming from his front door. 

Chapter 195: Didn't Expect This Day to Come So Soon 

"Roy, we're back!" 

"Philip, what are you yelling about? It's Monday, Roy's definitely at school!" 

"Oh, right! Sarah, so we've got the whole day to ourselves..." 

"Oh, you!" 

Roy watched in surprise as his parents, Philip and Sarah Black, walked into the living room, playfully teasing each other. 

Philip and Sarah froze when they saw Roy, Jennifer, and Elrusa in the living room. 

After a moment, Sarah and Elrusa spoke at the same time. 

"Roy, Jennifer, aren't you supposed to be at school today?" 

"Dad, who are they?"
