I think the better question is how the heck Sohma manage to grow a banana that big and what state of mind she must exist in to think that making it into a boat was a good idea.
I had a lot of fun watching this episode. It was only slightly detracted by the fact that while watching it, I was a little on edge with the idea that they might throw the lore through another loop and give Gabby a cutie mark. I would have had to call shenanigans on a pretty severe level.
Regardless, it was a nice way to take Gabby down the same path that the Cutie Mark Crusaders took. Which is a pretty interesting way of teaching someone. Sometimes a life lesson simply needs to be gone through in order to be truly learned. Sometimes it can be beneficial to make the same mistakes as your mentor as long as they're guiding you through it.
But whether or not the Cutie Mark Crusaders did that intentionally is beyond me. Probably not though. That method is usually only seen in movies and is way beyond their years. We'd have three young buddhas on our hands if that were the case.
Yet I wonder anyway.
