"Somebody Knows Nobody" Ep.0 Part 1

I have kept this comic completely secret from everyone I know, except for my wife and one friend. That friend happens to be a 30+ year friend I've known since we were kids. He has also been a huge follower and supporter of the comic. We got the idea to record a couple long chats and this is one little section I pulled from them. I may post a few more over the next few days.

I am sure that a lot of you Patrons have questions about certain parts of my Elan experience, Elan in general, or about the process of making this comic. Leave them in the comment section and we will record another one of these (eventually) and I will try to answer as many as I can. Plus, it's actually easier for me to address questions verbally like this, as opposed to email or text.

You convey the horror of Elan so much better than The Last Stop did.

This story is profound and one that I share with my educational psychology classes. Thank you for your ongoing work on this and we all look forward to culmination of your Elan story plus whatever work you've got in the pipeline.

Joe, I hope you know what a service you've provided with your Elan comic and this recorded discussion format. I'm sure you putting yourself out there in such a creative and relatable format will help others who went through similar situations and are dealing with the lingering demons. You're really talented. Will look forward to your future non-Elan-related creations as well!

Thank you so much for sharing this, Joe. I have a friend who attended for two and a half years and she also reads and supports your comics. You've done a lot for survivors with that project and I hope that you get all the success you deserve with anything else you dive into!

Amazing post. I love the format, it is very human and simple. I have a question for you, Joe. You relate very well what happened for you in the men's section. But do you have any information how it was in the women's section ? Was it any different ? It's hard to know since you weren't allowed there. And how did you cope with the lack of sleep ?

Thanks for sharing, Joe. What would you advise people who are/have been in a similar situation?

My wife and children suffer through my propensity to raise my voice whenever I want to emphasize a point....... I don't know if it's related but I have a strong aversion to cleaning. It seems to me that I did enough cleaning in my 16 months there to last a lifetime...

The ham there was absolutely putrid. It took me 20 years to just try a bite again....

Very interested in this, Joe. You have a fantastic ability to turn your pain into a gripping and beautiful piece of art.

have you still got any elan habits? does that phase you, or are you not fussed about them?

Do you remember the first thing you wanted to eat/drink when you got out? Is there anything you won't eat anymore because it reminds you of your time there?

This is awesome ๐Ÿ’™
