3 new cores! 1st one - Rick Dangerous

Three new cores today! The first one to cover is a game program core called 'xRick'. This is a game engine for the old Core Design game 'Rick Dangerous'. This game was released in 1989 by the same people who would later go on to make games like Thunderhawk and Tomb Raider.

Our thanks goes out to 'r-type' who did the major work on this program core to get it up and running. Afterwards, we did some minor cleanups and revisioning to get it working on the widest array of platforms possible.

Playable on

So far, we have released this program core for the following platforms:

* Windows

* Linux

* Android

Other systems like iOS, OSX and the consoles will get this program later at an undisclosed date and time. We will let you know when updates have happened on this front!

How to get and install this:

1. Start up RetroArch. Inside the main menu, go to 'Online Updater'.

2. Just to make sure we have the latest info files, select 'Update Core Info FIles'. Wait until this is done. Then, select 'Core Updater'.

3. Browse through the list and select 'Rick Dangerous (XRick)'.

4. After this has finished downloading, you now need to obtain the game's data files. You can do this by going back to the previous menu screen. From there, select 'Content Downloader'.

5. Select 'Rick Dangerous', then select 'Rick Dangerous.zip'. This should download and extract this file to your Downloads directory.

How to play (after installation):

1. Go back to RetroArch's main menu screen. Select 'Load Content', then 'Downloads'.

2. Select the 'xrick' directory, then select 'data.zip'.

3.  Select 'Load Archive'. If you are asked which program to select, choose 'Rick Dangerous (Xrick)'.

The game should now start running!

Controls

You play Rick Dangerous primarily with the RetroPad gamepad.

Up/Down/Left/Right - Left and right function as expected, Down crouches, and Up makes the player jump.

A Button                            - Press and hold this button, then press left or right to stab using your bayonet. If you press and hold the button and then press Up, you can shoot at an enemy. If you press and hold the button and then press Down instead, you will drop a bomb which will detonate after some time.
