THe turret ring diameter basically determines how big of a gun you can put into a tank, due to the size of the breach thats going to be inside. But I recon, recoil of a gun would be a major factor too? Are there accounts where the recoil of a gun would damage the turret rotation mechanism? (with the turret pointing the 'wrong' way. basically giving the turret a 'no-go' zone for shooting? And were there any tanks in the ww2 era where a bigger gun could only be mounted after a new recoil dampening system was developed for it? I know.. pretty general question. But its an interesting topic I think.
