Fall 2020 Updates!

Greetings! Here is our big community-wide update for Fall 2020! Before we dive in, we wanted to let you know that an updated version of Codex - Leviathan will be in the paid feed later today, so be on the lookout for that.

And now to the Fall 2020 Updates...

Live Gaming

This has been a good quarter for the Gauntlet Gaming Calendar. We've had lots of games we've never had run before posted as events. That's been a mix of itch.io new releases, old classics, and member-created hacks. We've also added to and enhanced our range of tools supporting online play. You can find a permanent list of those on the website here: https://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/online-gaming-resources.html . Big thanks to Gerrit Reininghaus for expanding our collection of online play aids and character keepers. We also had a major member-driven creative initiative with the Gauntlet City Comics Summer Crossover tying together many games.

Coming Up
We had a second successful Gauntlet Community Online Gaming event in July. Right now we're preparing for our October GCOG, which will be overseen by Jim Crocker. It will be a free event for everyone; registration will begin October 1st at 10 AM Eastern. If you're interested in running a session or setting up a panel/seminar, you can message Jim on Twitter @jimlikesgames. Sign up here: https://gauntlet-con.firebaseapp.com/all-events-info

We're gearing up for another round of Gauntlet Facilitator Camp in the last quarter of the year. These feature a veteran Gauntlet GM working with three new GMs. After a workshop session, each GM runs a session for the group and gets feedback. It's been incredibly successful in the past and we're excited to have Tyler L managing it this year.

On the weekend of December 5th, a large group GMs are organizing an mini-con celebration of three years of Star Wars Saturdays. It will be a set of special events added to the calendar and open to all Gauntlet members. We've seen tons of great ideas in the planning channel and we can't wait for it.

The Podcast Network

The Sixth Ring is here!

The biggest news on our podcasting network is the addition of a new show, The Sixth Ring, which is part of The Trophy Podcast feed. In this new show, Jason Cordova and Judd Karlman talk about all things related to the Trophy RPG, including play tips, third-party content reviews, design theory, actual play, and much more. If you liked our old Dungeon World podcast, Discern Realities, you'll love this new show—it's basically Discern Realities, but for Trophy.

You can find it here: https://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/trophy-podcast

+1 Forward BOB Summer Series

Rich and Rach are nearly finished with an excellent summer series focused on Belonging Outside Belonging games. After they wrap that series in early October, they'll be picking up their popular Movie Night series again. You can find +1 Forward right here: https://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/1-forward

The Gauntlet Podcast and Fear of a Black Dragon are still going strong!

The Gauntlet Podcast and Fear of a Black Dragon are still going strong. The Gauntlet Podcast remains the best place to hear about the games being played as part of Gauntlet Live Gaming, and Fear of a Black Dragon celebrated their 50 Episode-iversary earlier this year. Fear also recently welcomed Verena Sutherland as a guest to discuss the classic German-language Dark Eye module, The Wolf of Winhall. You can find those podcasts below:

Gauntlet Publishing

The Gauntlet Publishing team is largely focused on our Kickstarter projects, including Hearts of Wulin and Trophy. You can follow the backer updates for those projects to learn more about how they're going. As for other projects...

Codex Volume 5 starts soon!

The next issue of Codex, called Home, will mark the start of Volume 5 of the magazine. It's hard to believe the tiny zine we launched nearly four years ago to the day has come so far. We have so many people to thank, not the least of which is you, our wonderful patrons, who make every edition possible. Codex - Home will be out at the end of this month. In the meantime, check out the cover from our new cover artist, Michael Beachy:

Nephews in Peril

Our game Brindlewood Bay is starting to get more and more attention as people play it and fall in love with its novel mystery mechanics. New material for Brindlewood Bay comes out every month in Codex. Additionally, we'll soon be releasing a standalone mystery collection called Nephews in Peril. Nephews in Peril will be available on DriveThruRPG in October. In the meantime, please enjoy the fabulous cover illustration by BB artist Cecilia Ferri:

The Brindlewood Bay Writer's Workshop

We think people are going to be interested in writing their own Brindlewood Bay mysteries, as well as their own mystery games "Carved from Brindlewood." To support that, author Jason Cordova recently held a Brindlewood Bay Writer's Workshop to discuss those very topics! You can watch it here:

As always, thanks so much for your support! We couldn't do any of this without you. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments!
