2024-10-24 02:41:39 +0000 UTCDepending on the Japanese promotion, the importance of the match etc these tables can get used for moves, but it is pretty rare. In Stardom typically only in big main events you might see a table spot, but even then it is normally an additional table. I think the clearest recollection of using these commentator desks for spots might be some Kenny Omega match in a NJPW Tokyo Dome show. Besides smaller companies that focus on hardcore stuff. Btw it is pretty normal in Stardom that heels throw the faces into the rows of chairs. That is pretty much the time when these fans get up very quickly in contrast to their typical behavior. Besides these throws the heels also can be aggressive towards the ref. And sometimes the comedy part of the Stardom matches include a ref for some stunt or some talking exchanges. There are also certain refs who are very hands on. They kick away the foot on the rope if it is just touching a bit, he wants to see a real grip. Or he talks to the wrestlers to act, to get out of a submission. To see if they are knocked out he might take the hair out of the face to have a better look. It always looks respectfully, even though it might feel a bit too hands on in some situations when a ref should be more in the background.

2024-09-10 00:03:02 +0000 UTCI think the match was very fun, but I think what hasn’t been mentioned is that I believe AZM was 19 during this match! Starlight Kid was a mature 20. That’s what makes this unreal. If they were friends since the age of 11, that’s…not a very long time, lol.

2024-08-15 19:06:55 +0000 UTCYes. This was early 2022 but Japan was still following strict Covid guidelines. Not only were they seated far apart but they literally weren’t allowed to cheer or boo. Only clapping and foot stomping to show approval were allowed. Covid really killed Japanese wrestling for a good couple of years. The best Japanese matches are the ones where the crowds start quiet and then get really into it.

2024-08-15 15:39:11 +0000 UTCFun fact, the high speed title originally belonged to a now defunct promotion called NEO, and Asuka from Damage CTRL worked there at the time. She also worked as a graphic designer and actually designed that belt.

2024-08-15 07:25:26 +0000 UTCYou're welcome it's one of the first Stardom matches I watched too and they both immediately became my favourite wrestlers. You have no idea how excited I was when they formed Neo Genesis together.

2024-08-14 22:59:58 +0000 UTCOne thing you might notice is that in Japan, referees usually take a little longer for the third hit on pins, rather than the style you see in western companies where the referee counts to three evenly.

2024-08-14 22:16:08 +0000 UTCFor the mask stuff after the match during Starlight Kid's reign, she would bring a mask in the colors of her opponent with her and after every defense she would force the loser to wear it. After this loss, she wanted AZM to put the mask onto her but she declined because AZM said that they were 'eternal foes' and their story was not over. Recently, they both formed a new faction and are on the same side but since they are both still young (Kid is 23 and AZM turns 22 in October), they will inevitably feud again.

2024-08-14 22:12:40 +0000 UTCSo, the announce table doesn't really get used in japan, very rarely a table will be used but they are nothing like the tables you are used to. they are real wood and thick metal legs. they are much smaller aswell and will cut you and legit hurt you. Even seeing one get pulled out is very rare. what is more common is crowd brawling and making the audience move and tossing your opponent into their seats. Ref bumps are also very rare, usually a japanese company will have around 6 or 7 factions that have around 5-8 people in them. 95% of wrestlers are in a faction. there is usually one faction that will be the "very heel" group and will happily cheat, thats where most ref bumps will take place. Crowds during covid were asked not to cheer in japan, literally agaisnt the rules. Japanese crowds absolutly make noise but during covid they just were no allowed.
