2024-03-06 00:47:22 +0000 UTCInteresting topic and looks great so far! Then again...I really don't care about anything Horror and Martial Arts related and still I enjoyed your last years of content enough for this to be one of very few patreon channels I support. So I guess you are doing something right and I am not the right person to ask...

2024-03-05 09:10:30 +0000 UTCShort comment: Looks fantastic, keep up the good work. Long Comment: I am very curious to see where this goes and what the conclusion is that you want to reach. To me, I think this shows just how powerful of a stylized medium video games have become AND how ingrained in the pop culture zeitgeist they have become. Consider anime. What pop culture items don't have some kind of anime/manga rendition. One of the most popular uses of AI art generation seems to be to generate images of anime girls. Putting something in an anime context is an instant way to color a piece of media from one association with another. Consider Nier Automata vs. The Horizon series. On paper they seem similar but the way that they are visually encoded is very different. Nier screams anime in every aspect. Horizon is made by a Dutch team and looks Western. Aloy looks like a person while 2B is made entirely of perfect robot ass. I think the point that you are trying to make is that adding the video game elements to the artwork elevates it beyond being aesthetically pleasing. The Hoshibackyard artwork goes from "oh interesting artwork" to "Huh, Control + Persona + Fatal Frame could be an interesting game, AND the visual style is appealing". Signalis is the same. Interesting artwork, but then you find out it's a story about German anime lesbian robots with Resident Evil game play. I think an example of coding things in the language of video games failing was 13 Sentinels. Really cool game with fantastic artwork, but was essentially 3 games in one and it was really hard to tell at any one moment what it was supposed to be. There was no mechanical consistency, and that lack of consistency makes it very easy for someone that has not been told how cool the story is to bounce off immediately. So is it a VN? A strategy game? A compendium so chock full of crap that the guy should have just wrote a novel instead? Yes.

2024-03-04 19:44:03 +0000 UTCFeel free to discard this comment but just wanted to mention that the demon slayer fake game looks to be entirely based on sekiro and less dark souls with the red dots being shown when you can instakill an enemy or health bar of a boss, hence why the threads tanjiro sees connect straight to them as a means of showing his path to their throat as the main method of killing demons in the story. I write this not as an insult or critique but just in case you wanted to avoid comments in the full video mentioning this. Now video looks great. Can't wait for the full viewing
