Some Forthcoming CONTENT

Hey everyone,

Just a little update...

So very shortly the Rubin episode will be released (it is complete and being edited). It is kind of a follow-up to the Bill Maher one. We are sorry in advance for inflicting him on everyone. Missing the real gurus a bit.

Then we have a rather special episode that will address the never-ending topic of the lab leak with some special guests. I don't want to spoil the surprise but hopefully, it will be useful and interesting for people, let's see.

Also forthcoming are...

An interview with Travis View from QAnon Anonymous! This is an overdue conversation but will be great to exchange notes on QAnon & Gurus.

A guest decoding episode on Christopher Hitchens due to Matt courtesy of Matt proposing an interesting format.

Also this month... the John Vervaeke & Christopher Mastropietro debate/discussion at The Stoa (which Patrons will have Zoom access to).

And a new Decoding Academia. The subject of which is TBC.

We are hoping in 2023 to feature some more female and lefty type gurus so if you have any recommendations let us know.

That's all for now!

Peddlers - ugh predict text

I know right?? She was a huge influence on myself and my decision to get into healthcare and now when I see the kinds of commentary she makes, I cringe. Most of me is really just deeply disappointed in the direction she has chosen to go. I agree sadly….she really is one of the worst peddles of red pilled disinformation.

I came here to request both Hitchens and Williamson, and I'm glad others beat me to it.

Andreas Haukenes

Many suggested and we definitely should. She is on the list.

A bit out of left field, but would Oprah work as a female guru? For lefties, it would be great if you could figure out how to do one of the big debate bro types (Hasan, Destiny, Vaush). The tough part for them would be finding a good piece of content to cover.

Ben Godek

For lefty types, would you guys consider Robert Evans? He did a 2-parter on ivermectin a while back where the IDW and the Weinsteins come up, and about 40 min into part 2 he self-reflects for a while about how podcasts and humor can influence the beliefs of listeners https://omny.fm/shows/behind-the-bastards/part-two-the-ivermectin-episode

Marianne Williamson is running for president again, and she’s still an old school “A Course in Miracles” new age guru, even if she’s spouting progressive talking points on the campaign trail. Hardly a threat to Biden, but she’s an effective speaker and manages to beguile some lefties with her rhetoric.

+1 for Kate Manne

J

me too! i never got one lol .. it's obviously of paramount importance :D

Can I get a shout-out pretty please?

Female gurus... would Diana Fleischman count? Pretty sure she offers a fair amount of evo-psych advice about life. Heather Heying would be an obvious one. Ayn Rand of course if you have some good video of her. She's about as guru as it gets.

Robert Andrews

+2 on Graeber. I like him, but think he's definitely got guru energy. I mean, he merely suggests we should reorder society entirely, and hey, maybe we SHOULD.

Robert Andrews

Yeah. She's an interesting one! A few years before the pandemic I picked up a self help sort of book by her. All about escaping bad relationships. And I definitely thought some of her little side notes were a bit nuts. But then some of it I actually found really useful. So then I was surprised to see her come up again in the pandemic as a hard core red pilled anti vaxxer!!! Really one of the worst.

Emma

I think it was someone else but I’m not totally sure

Jennifer Nelson

Was it Teal Swan?

Emma

Not quite lefty but I’ve always wanted to see an episode dissecting Christianne Northrop!! I don’t know how she got so deep in the red pill rabbit hole but man this would be fascinating!

Dee the Lobsterdancing Bananaland Dinosaur Monster

I wish I could remember her name, but my friend got sucked into a movement about 10-ish years ago with a female guru-type who was all about exploration of the “divine masculine” and “divine feminine” (friend is still in that mindset but is far less insufferable than she used to be)

Jennifer Nelson

Yesterday I listened to a podcast that made me think of you: the latest episode of Vanity Fair’s Inside the Hive Interview with journalists James Pogue and Jeff Sharlett on the "new right." They talk about the sophistry of the "new right" and how they do "crap history", crap philosophy, crap theology; but they're name checking big names, name checking history, philosophy, theology so they feel they're in this rich place where they've never been before ... Curtis Yavin is a bad scholar but if you've never been around real scholarship, it blows your mind" https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/who-is-the-new-right-anyway/id1232383877?i=1000602363821

+1 on Graeber, could be quite interesting.

David Love

Hasan Piker!

Peter

On the Lefty side, how about David Graeber, or Chomsky?

Jesse Rimler

I'm assuming you'll touch on Scott Adams's Dilbert getting dropped from newspapers yesterday. He did release an infuriatingly predictable response podcast episode and delves into the "machinery of cancellation'.

Evan Bingham

Anna Khachiyan & Dasha Nekrasova of the influential and often wrong Red Scare Podcast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Scare_(podcast) https://www.reddit.com/r/redscarepod/ https://freddiedeboer.substack.com/p/the-witching-hour-approaches

Said it before, but Camille Paglia would be grand!

Lefty female gurus. Fun :-) Hmm. Is Teal Swan too obvious to bother with? She might break the gurometer! I love Esther Perel (the sex and relationship specialist) but she can be a bit guruish. She certainly doesn't lack self confidence! Another one I like is Sarah E Hill the reproductive psychologist (https://www.sarahehill.com/). She dabbles a lot in evolutionary psychology which is fun. And she also has some pretty big ideas which might make her a bit guruish. On a more political note that lady from the young turks Ana Kasparian is cool but maybe also a bit guruish.

Emma

Marianne Williamson!!

Daniel Reed Miller

Oprah Winfrey?

John Graham

You could look at Ayan Hirsii Ali (far far right) if you want a female subject with influence in the IDW. You could also look at Abigail Thorne (philosophy tube) or Kate Manne for more leftist content. My bias would be that rhose are very nonguru types but might be worth a look
