Ok, so as many of you know, my table is always full of random stuff I’m tinkering with. This one was kind of an impulse project.
I stumbled across a “concept” for the upcoming Mandalorian & Grogu… turns out it was just an AI image. But by that time, I was already halfway in, so I thought: why not finish it, add my own twist, and wrap it up?
So here it is — I present to you the new MG Helmet.
The original concept had this red/silver-grayish brushed and weathered look. The idea wasn’t dents or battle damage, but rather paint that looked scraped and torn away. I tried to replicate that — made a 3D render to give you a reference/template for painting when you build the model.
And since I’m on a roll with new things, I also included the 2D visor cutout templates so you can test them out on your laser/Cricut cutters or similar machines. This one also comes with a moveable visor — it’s not motorized, but it uses magnets that let the stalk go up and down, similar to my Crosshair solution.
As always, you’ll get:
split versions (2-part and 4-part) with my assembly pin slots
solid helmet version
3MF version (Bambu slicer X1C type machines) with supports, orientation & print info
a little 360° animation template
the new visor 2D cutout template
moveable rangefinder/stalk
Hope you like this little surprise project !
