I’ve said in the past that I’ve liked your reactions because they are entertaining and they are entertaining but I have to say that, I do see it when you call out characters for being homophobic, I do see it when you call out characters for being racist and I do see it when you call out characters for being downright nasty. So keep up the entertainment but keep on calling out the crap too. X

2023-11-14 22:48:02 +0000 UTCLove your reactions & so glad you're reacting to this series, but I have to admit I LOL'd at the "Maybe he's changed" comment (4:24). 😉🙃 Hawk is literally still married and living a lie. 😬🤭😂 I know how complicated it was back then, especially when you're married and have kids, but MANY gay men in similar situations back then did it. If Hawk WANTED to change, he could have, but he didn't. Tim nailed it in Ep1 when he told Hawk that HE was the "coward." It was a very apt description that remains true in their present timeline.

2023-11-14 19:15:11 +0000 UTCThis show is so good and so necessary! In case you didn't know, it's 100% based on true events. The two lead characters aren't real people, but their story is 100% based on real events. While the exact characters aren't real, much of what happens around them IS. People who worked for the government during those times and were investigated and removed from government work, it went on their record that they were a "sexual deviant!" So many gay government employees lost their jobs, were jailed, accused of bullshit crimes and many took their own lives as a result. Other real people ARE represented in the series, including trailblazing journalist Simeon Booker, drag queen Storms DeLarverie, Bobby Kennedy (obviously lol) and a US Senator whose son's love life was used to blackmail him. Most unfortunately, the McCarthy-led "Lavender Scare" was VERY real, as was the "Red Scare," which happened at the same time. Anything said publicly by McCarthy or Cohn is historically accurate, ripped right from videos and transcripts from that time. THIS is the EXACT kind of history that is being banned from schools through book bans and a general prohibition on what can be taught. Queer history is being erased in this country, just like Black history, Indigenous history and even massive WORLD history events like the Holocaust! We.have to fight back, which is one of many reasons I'm so proud of this show and happy it exists!
