It only makes sense that Mob would be the final boss. This is the last remaining conflict--Mob accepting himself, the good and the bad. Remember back in season 2 when he wondered if he suddenly decided to turn his powers onto people instead of spirits, would anyone be capable of stopping him? That sure wasn't foreshadowing!
