“Eating phantom medicine. DUH, whaddya think?” “She’s just a freshman, defying the odds. How can you not root for her?” “They live their lives in a capacity of scheming. I haven't seen anyone else mentioned this. Just to let you know, the title for this episode says 1x6, instead of 2x6. Just noticed it now, as I'm catching up on your reactions. Don't know if you can edit the title or not, but just wanted to let you know of the typo!

Don't know if anyone has let you know of this yet, so I might as well. Once you are done with all of Season Two's episodes, you need to first watch the Kaguya-Sama OVA and the Season Three PV (10 min 1 chapter episode but is still canon from manga and worth watching). Once you've seen those two things that you could probably do in one video, than you can start Season Three. The final episode of Season 3, a 1hr epic finale, is airing this Friday, and it very well could be the last episode of the Kaguya anime. At least until future announcements, but as of now nothing is confirmed and it would make sense to end the series at the end of the current season. I never want this show to end on your channel, like I've said before its my favorite series you have ever reacted to on this channel other than ATLA ofc.

Animation on this show is top tier. A-1 Pictures most well produced series imo, the experimentation, use of manga panels, coloring, and scene transitions are the best I have ever seen in any anime.

This was such a well-executed episode. The way the camera pulls away from Miko as she is feeling so small up on the stage, then later zooms back in as she earns her place in the spotlight. Excellent visual storytelling!

I really like your analysis on Kaguya. Her character is the heart of the series, thus the reason the show is named Kaguya-sama and not “Kaguya and Miyuki” or something like that. Her process may seem slow but keep in mind this is only the very beginning of her character journey. Even though this episode is at about the half way point in the anime, its more like the 25% point the manga. The anime/manga does not shy away from exploring her character in depth. The darker parts of Kaguya’s personality have been fostered and encouraged by her family for the past 16 years of her life. Miyuki and the whole student council president are essential for her development. By surrounding herself with good people who value who she is and have healthy outlook on life, she can grow and better herself. This is something Kaguya is well aware of. It’s why she holds the student council so dear to her heart and why she’s willing to go to extremes to protect it. The goodness in Miyuki specifically is something Kaguya recognizes and deeply values. She’s knows she doesn’t have that some goodness yet and that causes her a lot of shame.

It's my second time seeing this episode, but Miko's backstory made me tear up again :'(

This is such an amazing comment Chris. Some people seem to not realize the expert romantic nuance Aka Akasaka has when writing this shows main couple because of its (on the surface) generic RomCom setup and feel. This is a personal growth show as much as it is a romantic one. Both of them have so many flaws which I love because it makes them seem so much more human, similar to ATLA's characters.

Something I’ve noticed about Kaguya is that it seems her emotional development was pretty stunted after growing up in such a cold household without much of a social life. Much of her interactions in this series is her essentially speed running her emotional development in a turbulent way. I don’t dislike the way Kaguya is going, because, while she will likely set herself up for failure in many ways, that is simply what being a high schooler is, making mistakes, doing stupid shit. The turbulence is progress in my eyes, as the alternative is her not feeling anything, as she had for so many years. I think the initial worry from fans about the outcome of Kaguya and Miyuki mainly stem from how the premise of the show was how they are the “perfect couple”, who just needs to confess. As a viewer, when I stepped back from the fact that this was a rom com, I was able to truly appreciate how these guys were just high schoolers. Whenever I see Kaguya’s thoughts and see Miyuki from her perspective, it starts to feel like she is some emotionally unstable individual and Miyuki is some amazing balanced individual, but I think Miyuki is not exactly so centered. He’s a just a teenager, never been in a relationship, has doubts and worries, raging hormones, awkwardness, and emotional turbulence as well. I think they can naturally develop emotionally in many ways simply by being together. I feel better about this because, while it seems that Kaguya has all of these potentially problematic thoughts alone, it always seems like she is brought back down to Earth when she actually talks with him.

Definitely one of my favorites of the show so far

Love this episode, one of the best of Season Two. Miko Iino is such a great final addition to the main cast. I love the way Shirogane comes in to help her out during the election speechs. Seems like she's got quite the history with Ishigami as well.
