I paid particular attention to the composition in this piece—objects around Fhewe are intentionally arranged to point toward her. From the figure at the top to the building ruins, there’s a directional tendency that guides the viewer’s gaze to Fhewe. Since I wanted to convey a sense of space with a wide canvas, the background is prominently included. However, I was also concerned that the presence of such a vast background might draw attention away from the character, so I went as far as making the surrounding objects strongly point toward Fhewe—perhaps even excessively so.
