This movie, along with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was the reason the Motion Picture Association of America created the PG-13 rating. Also Asia wanted to know why the Gremlins looked different than the Mogwai. They started off as Mogwai but they transformed because they broke the most important rule of feeding them after midnight.

2025-12-08 05:31:02 +0000 UTCJeez, I havent seen this in forever. I didnt realize there was a cameo of 2 movies, the time machine and Lost in space in the flick. The time machine even disappeared. And yes there is a green light for the 3rd installment. Its in production now. A very classic movie and now that I watched it again, its a bit cheesy but I grew up with it. excellent reaction. Still waiting on the hobbit battle of 5 armies. You made it to desolation of Smug.

2025-12-05 04:42:08 +0000 UTCYou guys are too young to get all the references in this movie. Gremlins was a term invented to explain unexpected malfunctions in aircraft early in the 20th Century. In 1943 British author Roald Dahl wrote a children's book called The Gremlins which Disney planned to make into an animated film. They never made the film, but Warner Brothers made a few cartoons featuring gremlins, one of which, Falling Hare, starred Bugs Bunny. I remember seeing it on TV when I was a kid. The whole movie is a variation on the original Star Trek episode, The Trouble With Tribbles. There are so many things Spielberg took from old movies in his film that I gave up counting. Mrs. Deagle is an obvious clone of Miss Gulch from The Wizard of Oz. Spielberg really loves old movies.
