The Rings of Power 1x1 | FULL Length Reactions

It's really interesting learning about these newly invented lands of men which weren't created by Tolkien. The two villages of Tirharad and Hordern, the later of which was burned with it's people missing, I was surprised to read are actually in Mordor near the inner west edge of the mountains, Ephel Durath . So this is before the influence of Sauron has made crops incapable of being grown in Mordor and ruined it with black and grey skies.

Please react to 'The terminal list' starring Chris Pratt, it's insanely good.

That was fine . Well explained and sound . I know what it's like to expect something to be in a movie or tv adaptation and only to find out it had been cut for time or they thought it just wasn't important to make it in . An example is Tom Bombadil in The Lord Of The Rings or anything that did not make it from the Harry Potter books to the films . Thanks for the explanation and have a good rest .

I was 5, l when the lotr came out so I couldn't have protested, yes I wished some thing weren't changed from lotr like elronds sons and dunedain not being in it, scouring of the shire, helms deep battle, I forgot his name but the guy and his son who befriend peregrin took in the rotk, Tom bombafil, fatty bolger, how aragorn meets the Hobbits, golorfindel I think I spelled it right, etc, but I saw the behind the scenes and those changes are forgiven especially when pj explains why the changes were made considering they had to make it into a movie not a tv series, had they done this now I'm pretty sure it couldn't have been made like the lotr we come to know. Let me clarify the race issue I do not have a problem with diversity but when Tolkien is called a racist for not having people of color in his story and then announce they are making a show to reflect the modern world while claiming they can make a better story you have a problem and then they said it will have diversity, I thought hmm are they going to show haradrim, The Easterlings, umbar and other lands we have not explored, this is before we were told about what rights they had to the story. Race wasn't an issue into they kept bringing it up as there talking point instead of the story during interviews and then labeling the fans and any one racists. As for taking modern liberties well pj said they weren't going to add and of there views into the story and respect his works, but on the other hand it's clear the showrunners wanted to do that. I apologize for the grammar. I just did a 24hr shift and am extremely tired, so if I missed anything from explaining my point let me know thanks. Have a nice day.

Both of you are missing the point of my question . My question is not based around race or gender . I don't care about all that . My question is literature based . I really do not understand why people are so upset about them not sticking to the works of Tolkien when there are moments where they are sticking close to it . If anyone can answer my question that is literature based and not politically based , please do .

tldr: They hated it because there were people of color in the trailers. Kage: Did you protest when Peter Jackson modernized the language ("Let's hunt some orcs") and threw jokes about dwarf tossing and farts in LOTR? Why pick now to be so incensed that an interpretation took some modern liberties? (BTW, it sounds like you're the one doing the "cancelling" over what should be a trivial issue. You imply it's unrealistic to have anyone of color in the cast. Meanwhile, elves, wizards, dragons and talking trees are perfectly fine.)

The hate came from the way the actors and actresses when interviewed kept going on how they were the first of there race to be in fantasy and saying how they are making it because they couldn't see themselves or felt represented in Tolkien, without talking about the story or thier characters, changing characters and then the fans being called racist even though they had legit concerns, Tolkien wrote this because of England's lost history due to war so he wanted to create a world based on England, but people seem to forget that, so if there are majority white people then that's the reason, plus if they wanted diversity as they said then that means they didn't read the books because clearly they could have written about the harad or the Easterlings, crossairs etc there was opportunity there but because the well known races are white they had to change that, Tolkien was labeled a racist so they wanted to change the story because in there words and I'm paraphrasing what they said they want Tolkien world to reflect our own and modernize it, which means all the cultural issues we are having into this world. I'm Hispanic I never in my life complained about seeing myself in any medium or cared about being represented I could enjoy it for what it is unless I can tell they are pandering to a few because it's what everyone is doing due to fear of being cancelled. That's probably some of the reason pretty sure there's more but that's all I can remember so far. Those who have no knowledge or read it's works can enjoy but for many who read them it's a tragedy and a shame could have been a great series, how I miss the early 2000's when no one was afraid to create something without fear of cancellation by a small majority. Well hope you enjoy this. Have a great day.

I like this series although it's an entirely different take on Tolkien then i'm used to . But , i don't get the hate for this being different from Tolkien's writings . I'll keep watching it , regardless .
