When I was a kid, I used to love being scared. The first Dracula movie, the one with Bela Lugosi, came out in 1931, and then Frankenstein came out right after. I used to scrounge together as much extra money as I could, so both Steve and I could go see it. I think I lost count of how many times we saw it.....you may laugh with how different horror is now.....but back then? That was some of the scariest shit we'd ever seen, even as teenagers.....

Come Halloween, even if Steve and I didn't have any costumes.....I'd buy.....--or more likely steal--some candy from the corner store to share, and we'd tell each other ghost stories, or whatever we'd be able to come up with......anything to make it feel like the holiday.....

Not so much anymore.....getting scared....watching horror films......I've seen a lot and only consciously remember half of it.....but it's enough for me to know that it isn't safe for me.....or for anyone else to watch those things......

The rest of the team knows......they just let me know when they're gonna do it, and I hole up in here......

That's not to say that I'm not celebrating it in my own way.....got some candy here......lights turned down low, and a good book....

'S Dracula......he was always my favorite.......besides....I've read this book plenty of times before.....there's nothing too surprising in here that's gonna affect me too much......suspense....the unraveling of a mystery......that's my speed now......

C'mon, sit with me....You ever read this book before? Most people have a general idea of the story, but haven't ever actually read it before......

*chuckles* Some people don't end up liking it because it's different than they expected.....it's told through diary pages and letters, and the idea that Dracula is a vampire slowly unfolds throughout the novel.....I can imagine that people who enjoy a more fast paced story telling style find it boring. I think the devil's in the details, yeah? Gotta pay attention.....

There's stuff in here that people can still resonate with.....I still resonate with some things....
