[Sound of a bard appearing]

Hi everyone!

Here's the first news post of 2025. I can already say it: it's gonna be an amazing year!

Due to the insane amount of work I had to go through in January, I'm late with the releases. Nothing to worry about, the content is scheduled to be released tomorrow and it's a very ambitious pack. I also completely reworked our website, on which you can now buy all our albums and FoundryVTT modules. We also have a blog with cool articles*. The albums are at a cheaper price there, since we don't have to pay the Bandcamp fee! Everyone's winning.

*If you have a TTRPG blog or website, or love to write, we are interested to collaborate (mutual promotion or feature your work on our website).

We planned the adventure themes for the whole year. I started the composition of some of them and I can already say all ambiences will be delivered on time on the 15th of each month (between 12 to 16 ambiences for Guardians in total, 6 to 9 for Ravens). The only exception would be if I collaborate with another artist and I have to wait on them for a few days. Some usually deliver content on the last days of the month.

More SFX!

SFX are super useful in our tool Opus. People love them and now players can play their own during the games. That's why I'm investing more time into composing them. That means, I've got more content to share!

I've decided to increase the amount of monthly SFX shared with Guardians from 30 to 50. On top of that, I'll keep sharing from times to times bonus packs for paying tiers, which generally represent a bonus 50% (so roughly 900 SFX per year for Guardians). When I write that, I simply can't believe that some of our competitors ask for 59$ for 120 SFX and a few songs. It makes me feel bad for those who pay and I also wonder what their work process is. Maybe I should offer online courses^^

Free albums

The old rule is still here: if you are a "Chosen" tiered patron, you get all our new albums for free. This month, you'll get TWO albums -> The new Middle-Eastern Vol. 1 album by Filip Melvan and the "Dragons of Stormwreck Isle" by Lyre RPG Music. You'll receive both of them in your inbox on the 26th, so be subscribed at that time. If you hesitated to upgrade your tier, it's the best time of the year probably.

Thanks so much for supporting us. Every day is a blessing, knowing we can make a living doing TTRPG audio.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Roll20 anymore either. I get that it's easy, and that is a draw, but they've flubbed so many things that it drove me to Foundry.

Ohhh thank you for the upgrade! Moulinette will handle everything for you. We never miss updating Moulinette as we work closely with their main developer. He recently added features I requested. As for your friend using Roll20, I'm not aware of any tool that does the same as Moulinette, but our music and ambiences are small enough to be added to Roll20. The only problem is that Roll20 has a storage limit since it's a cloud service. I'm really not a big fan of it :) Feel free to contact me if you got any question

Money is tight, as it is for everyone, but honestly it might be worth it to go to Guardian. I have spread the word to three different GMs who use Foundry, and I'm sure a fourth who (sadly) uses Roll20 has seen it. I gushed about your music. So, don't worry, doin' my part to promote you. I'm completely new to this. How do updates work month to month? Is there anything I need to do on my end or does Moulinette just show the new offerings? I'm not sure if you noticed but the pieces I mentioned all have an edge to them. A tension. I like the calming ballads like "Maiden's Moonlit Dance" but my favorites are the ones that create a sense of conflict. The underlying beat of "A Storm is Coming" sounds like a heartbeat and it creates a great tension. Perfect for an adventure setting.

Hi Michael! Thank you *so* much for this comment. I forwarded it to the rest of the team. Filip Melvan is the genius behind the songs you mentioned. This is very heartwarming to read. I'd really love if you could spread the word about our work! Getting known doing music is incredibly hard as it's fully non-visual! Btw, if you ever become a Guardian Patron, you'll double the amount of tracks you got access too, as well as about 2k sound effects! But you already got plenty to listen to as a Raven :p Thanks again! - Michael

Dear Composers that comprise Michael Ghelfi Studios, I installed Moulinette on my new Foundry server (I'm planning on hosting a GURPS fantasy game) and I wanted good background music and some ambiance background sounds. I saw your name bandied about, and came here to become a Patreon member and load up your Foundry module. Your music is unbelievably good. "Aleyna van Druskia" is perhaps the greatest gaming background music I have ever heard. "Frustogor's [something]" (once loaded the music player cuts off names. I think it was something like Frustogor's Mountain?) is incredible. "A Leg of Peace." The "A Storm is Coming" is listed as Ambient/SciFi but I could use that in a fantasy setting--all three pieces Base, Ambient, and Combat are so, so, so good. I could go on and on. Your music is everything I've always wanted for gaming. I could see me putting it on in the background while I write. You are doing amazing work.

Hi Rob! This is really heartwarming. I forwarded it to the rest of the team, thanks so much for all the support you show us! Feel free to contact me if you need anything or if you ever see a decrease in quality somewhere.

Thanks for all the hard work from you, Filip, and the rest of your team! You guys deliver a huge value every month and are always looking for ways to improve various components. In every way I can think of, from the quality ambience, music, and SFX, to your various collaborations, to the way you communicate and deal with people, to how you make everything accessible, affordable, and functionally useful across different platforms...you guys are absolutely the best around! Cheers! 😁🤘
