You're right, this episode did feel a little more like pre-season 4 community... but there were still moments that felt out of character to me, to the point it totally took me out of the ep. Annie being disappointed they cant make a diorama. Abed SSHHing with his finger. The group scream at the end, which they just did in episode 2. Jeff giving Abed a confused look during the "ruse" joke... Jeff knows Abed. Jeff is not confused by Abed's antics. Though, the chair break scene is one of the best things in the whole season.

2020-04-29 00:32:49 +0000 UTCDefinitely missed your running commentary, but since I’m watching Community for the first time, I was just happy to see this episode. Positive thoughts: loved the gang functioning as a team, Malcolm McDowell as the new professor, some of the rapid banter, and Troy and the Dean (my 2 favorite characters) are hysterical no matter what. Negative: I know the episode was lampooning old TV tropes about Germans but sometimes it felt like Germans themselves were the butt of the joke. Also: Chang going by the name Kevin? It was funnier in season 2 when George Takei made a voice-mail greeting for someone named Kevin. I’m very touchy about how my name is used.

I'm not sure if it feels different to someone who's not from Germany, but I think this is one of the weakest episodes of the series. Looking forward to your reactions to season 5.
