Buffy 7x6 Him

Wait... Hear me out! This is, obviously, my first time watching. I admit, I felt the premise of this episode a little bit silly. It also was a little slow to get going, with the establishing of this particular story.

HOWEVER! It does get better, there are some BIG laughs, and contains a line that I find myself saying over and over. Won't spoil it here in case people haven't seen the episode and are reading this blurb (read the blurbs after, always 😅) but it's Anya's line when she is at the door with Willow. Is that too vague? Well, it starts with "No...". Brilliant delivery and is one of my favourite lines/moments from her but like the episode, it grew on me with editing AND re-watching this episode 🤣 There are MANY moments like this all throughout the series that I re-watch over and over. Do you have any funny moments that you love or think about often?

Buffy 7x6 Him

The whole episode for me is the first scene with Dawn. It seems that Buffy has forgiven Spike for what he did. Dawn asks her about it. And then she says she doesn't love him (which she doesn't). Buffy admits to the mixed feelings she has for him. Which she even she cant explain. In Fool for Love Harmony tells Spike he couldn't kill Buffy and he had plenty of chances. Likewise Buffy couldn't kill Spike and she had plenty of chances as well. I think her attraction to him started in s03e08 when she was fighting with him in Lover Walk, when she says " I violently dislike you." I think she was feeling the opposite. Then the rest of the episode is fun, silly fun.

I like the more light-hearted aspect of this episode, but I always skip the part where Dawn talks to RJ in the hall then tries out for cheerleading. The second-hand embarrassment is too much; I couldn't even bring myself to watch it with your reaction 🙈 I love the part with Spike and Buffy outside the school! It always makes me laugh 😂

Melanie

Not to mention the hilarious side-eyes Anya gives him.

I'm not sure I caught it. Cheeses? I caught the ones about his physical presence. There were some highly quotable lines. Emma Caulfield and Alyson Hannigan killed it this episode and its great to see Michelle Trachtenberg get some focus. I think AJ has had to have known about the jacket. Sorry, RJ :) I can't recall if its followed up on now that Anya has money and money can be exchanged for goods and services!

Agreed. The flashback to Xander mobbed was a funny iconic few seconds. A bit filler, but knowing Nicholas Brendon could mug for the daydreaming line, "Good times."

The music that played whenever one of our ladies fell in 'love' with RJ is 'Theme from A Summer Place' from the 1959 movie (surprise!) 'A Summer Place'. It was a very popular slow dance number throughout the 60's and early 70's at high school dances.

I love this episode, personally. It's like a little throwback to "Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered" from season 2, and it even featured a little clip from that episode. Some people find the episode gross and problematic, but the characters are under a spell and not thinking rationally. It's good to just turn your brain off sometimes and enjoy a good laugh. Not everything needs to be politically correct. My favorite scene is the one where Buffy is pointing the rocket launcher (another throwback to season 2) at Principal Wood and you see her and Spike going back and forth in the background. It kills me every time I see it. It's so funny.

"And Dawn - she's not really good for anything." One of favourite funny lines. I don't agree with it - I love Dawn. But the way Anya says it so bluntly, to Buffy of all people. Just so funny. Along with "Dawn, be quiet. We're trying to work this out. We don't need you interfering." So harsh. Interesting that you mention the flashback to Xander's love spell being unnecesary. I've seen a few people mention that they don't know why they included a flashback on this occasion, when they reference past episodes all the time and never usually include one. I think it was purely included for comedy reasons as this is a comedy episode.

This episode makes me cringe in the best way possible. I love it! The “wet towel” analogy for a soul used in this episode has stuck with me. A soul doesn’t mean you can’t do bad things, but it makes you feel bad about doing them (and hopefully not want to do them again).

Lime Pie

This ep is sooo cringe. But it is also incredibly funny. The montage with Willow/Buffy/Anya is gold. And Spike stealing Buffy's bazooka...

Oooh, good question! Of all the many funny moments from the show one of my favourites is when Giles, having been turned into a demon by Ethan Rayne, sees Professor Walsh as he's driving by so decides to jump out of the car and scare her down the street. As for this particular episode, I don't hate it but it's definitely not a favourite either. Also, hey RJ! Angel called and he wants his hairstyle back! As always thanks for another great reaction Juliette. Hope you have a great weekend.

The silly ways of it was what put me off a bit, but once it got going there were some really funny and memorable moments!! Especially Anya's line which I say ALL the time (remove the word Buffy for your word of choice, for example "cheese"). So now I am a Him fan too, I guess 🤣🤣

To me, this episode is a clear nod to the MotW episodes that defined Buffy in the early seasons. In that context, I think it's great. Season 7 does a lot of looking back to where it all started and this fits right in with that.

R. Chang

It really is an episode that grows on you, I think! It needs a couple of watches 😅

Juliette Gaming

I am an unapologetic Him fan. Looking forward to your reaction!

LOTS of (/most?) people have critically ripped this episode for the silly frivolous way of it. I think it goes so far that way it becomes a piece of brilliance favourite. I'm looking forward to your reactions and my rewatch.
