Roleplay poll 27 & QOTW :)

Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope your week is going well so far :) I've been having some issues with my sleeping lately so that's been a thing lol. I know once the holidays are over things should get back to normal though so we're almost there!

This Friday you're going to be "saved" by a sandworm girl. I have to say that drawing her was...interesting lol. I did a new sound in this one, one that I was originally reluctant to do. Recently I've been trying to expose myself to different types of ASMR sounds, to keep an open mind so to speak. I figured what the hell- I'll give it a shot if I can tie it in with a character! Yet again you all will be my tester group xD

Next Friday will be one of the choices below so let me know what sounds most interesting to you! As for question of the week: Which do you prefer overall, digital or physical copies?

I personally enjoy having physical copies. I think it stems from my fear of things disappearing at some point. I've always been scared that things will either vanish or become unavailable so having a physical copy makes me feel comforted in a way.

No worries! Oh! If you like flavored coffee and blueberries, you HAVE to try their blue and buried coffee! It smells and tastes soooo friggin good!

Delta

Apologies for the delayed reply but I felt the need to speak up on the death wish coffee- I just recently tried some of that myself and it's amazing! xD I will also agree that the Pokemon Go phase definitely got out of hand. It was fun when I first played but I quickly got bored lol.

alichu

No that is not! After way too long of that, my body pretty much shut down after work on Monday and I pretty much just zonked out on the couch from like 6pm-11:30pm before waking up and actually going to bed lol and same! Managed to go to bed at an early enough time, I think I got like... 7 hours of sleep! I didn't need to drown in death wish coffee at work today!! Lol hopefully it stays that way for the both of us! And hmm... I was thinking it was like lotion or oil sounds... like.. for a slimy worm... am I wrong..? lol and lol neither am I, I have a few games on my phone, but never play them at all, I'd rather play on my PC or if I want something mobile, my switch lol Could never get into Pokemon Go myself though, I tried, but I think the fact that I almost got into some wrecks because people would slam on their brakes in places I know there were gyms kinda made me hate the game lol

Delta

Happy to know you're willing to be my sound guinea pig- now work for me! >:) lol. I admit this next one isn't my favorite sound, but I want to keep an open mind for all kinds of character ideas. I know that everyone has different ASMR triggers so I'd like to be able to provide as many as I can :) Digital convenience is definitely nice, especially when traveling, etc. My fear really stems from some anime/manga series just disappearing or being REALLY hard to find. More times than not I think it's a licensing issue between companies owning the rights, but as a fan it sucks to not be able to enjoy it when I want to. And thus began my collection of dvds and blue ray xD

alichu

Same with me on the sleep- lately I seem to be getting around 4-5 hours which just isn't enough lol. I was lucky to get some good sleep last night though so woo! I'm glad your week has been good too, that's great to hear ^_^ I will admit that the sound isn't a personal favorite of mine, but I like to stay open minded for different character ideas- I also want to be able to provide a variety for everyone since ASMR sounds are endless! That's pretty neat that you still have the original flappy bird! I've never been big on playing games on my phone overall, but I think that's only because I never actively tried to find one I enjoyed. The only one I can remember getting into was Pokemon Go back when it came out!

alichu

Thanks Skelly, I managed to get some good sleep last night and felt pretty good today! Woah, I'm surprised to hear that a band makes cassettes- that's pretty cool ngl. We still sell a few cds where I work (mainly kpop stuff) and I think it's pretty neat. Mainly because they put so much effort and detailing into the whole package with extras (prints, books, etc.) included. I think it would be cool if more groups did stuff like that!

alichu

Yeah I’m bad at staying up too late before a shift as well lol. Also he is a boxer! 😁 His names Milo and he’s just a pup rn, boxers are definitely one of my favorite breeds of dogs as well, had one while I was growing up and when i felt it was time to get another dog I knew I def wanted a boxer again :) I also totally can see what ya mean by liking holding it better lol. I like getting comfy somewhere cozy sometimes and reading off my phone but I can see how actually having the physical copy can make it even more cozy and enjoyable. plus the added bonus of physical I can see is collecting a whole set and putting it on a book shelf which is nice to look at 😂

BerryCole

I totally get that about art! One of the most fun things about anime conventions to me is buying art from the artists there :) Not only do I get to meet them but supporting them while getting merch is cool for everyone involved. I've commissioned a few artists in the past and had the piece sent to me and it's just awesome to have it physically- 100% agree with you.

alichu

I'm glad to hear your sleep improved a bit! Let's hope for no more nightmare weekends lol. When it comes to games and music, I'm more lenient with having digital copies. Some games of course (like the old dot hack games), I still feel that way about though, only because they are so damn hard to play otherwise. Overall though, I think games are pretty good at having various ways to play them so a win there! Anime is my biggest fear honestly. I've enjoyed too many series that are hard to find/watch now unless you have a physical copy. I'm sure there are "other" methods of watching them but I'm not willing to risk that lol. Books/manga I like physical because it's more comfortable for me while reading, and I'm a book hoarder xD

alichu

Very good guess on the sandworm but not quite! ;P I'm at a point where I think my body depends on caffeine/coffee a bit too much. I don't want to say I'm addicted to it but if I don't have it in the morning I'm not happy lol. There are a few things I'm ok with not having physical copies of, a big one being music. It's nice to have, but I haven't run into a case where a band became inaccessible to listen to otherwise. Now if it's for sentimental reasons I totally get that!

alichu

There are some things I'm ok with only having digital versions of- your example being music. I've never had a case where music wasn't available or became hard to find for me. Anime and manga on the other hand, I've had a lot of cases where a series became very hard to find for whatever reason (most likely ownership rights of studios, etc.) As a fan it's scary because a series I enjoy, without having a physical copy, I may never get to read or watch again otherwise :(

alichu

Same on the sleep! Lately I've been getting around 4-5 hours. Some of that is because I stay up a little too late before a shift starts. Another part is because I'm a light sleeper and the smallest sounds can wake up lol. Also, hello and it's nice to see you in the comments! I'm really happy you enjoy my art, thank you so much for that- and for being a patron of course! ^_^ I love your little profile picture btw. I think it's of a boxer which is my absolute favorite breed of dog. I get you on the accessibility of having stuff on your phone though. It is nice to have when you're on a break at work or traveling, etc. for sure. Admittedly I am that person who enjoys physical books/manga. It might sound silly, but I really do just like holding it better! xD

alichu

Breakfast of champions right there! Despite having to wake up early I hope you had a nice day :) As for the character choices, a patron recommended a cute idea with a racoon so if that one wins, I'll probably play around with that a bit :P When it comes to a Kobald mine will for sure be similar to those in WoW- definitely not looks wise but personality lol. I've also had cases where a perfectly fine-looking disc didn't want to play- very irritating! >.<

alichu

Yeah, game companies I guess figured re-releasing a game is better than attempting backwards compatibility. It is unfortunate when a game is niche at best and you have to pirate the game if you want any chance to play it.

Kai Zomei

I feel a little more at ease when it comes to games lately- maybe it's because there have been a lot or re-releases of older titles for different consoles, etc. There are still those old, not so popular games where it's nice to have a physical copy of for sure though!

alichu

I would say I'm like that also. With the things that mean a lot, or things I very much enjoy, I prefer a physical copy. There have been a lot of anime and manga over the years that became very hard to find, so I'm very happy when I picked up a physical copy of it for cases like that!

alichu

Seems like a lotta ali cats are having sleep problems too, me included! You’re definitely not alone there lol. I wish you the best as you trudge through the remaining holiday season, blessings of the caffeine be upon you. Excited to play Guinea Pig again lol As for media I tend to prefer digital for the convenience, though I definitely get where you’re coming from about things disappearing. There’s a lot of media from the 80s and 90s that was never recorded and once all the physical copies were lost they were kind of just gone forever, only living on in the memories of the people that got to watch/play/listen to it

So far, my week has been good, got new stuff over the weekend, so I'm happy! But I feel you on the sleep, been going to bed at around 1AM every night and waking up at 5:30, 6AM for work.. bleh.. hope things get normal for you soon though!! I wonder how we're going to be "saved" from the sandworm girl lol I also have an idea on this now sound, guess I'll have to wait and see if I'm right lol As for the vote, I'm a bit torn on this one... the kobold seems interesting, fennec foxes are one of my favorite animals, but, a cheeky sneaky raccoon ASMR sounds fun, so I think I'll have to go for that! And finally the question... I'm also a bit torn, I like digital for the convenience since I love to travel when I can, and having movies and books and what not on my phone, tablet and kindle are great, but there's also the same fear that you have about digital copies just disappearing, and opening up a real book is just great! lol That being said, I still have the original flappy bird on my phone! Just been transferring it from phone to phone since 2013 lol

Delta

Hope you can finally take a well deserved catnap. Now if we're going off of what I prefer then it's physical, but if I'm being honest, most of my stuff is digital so I'm not a very good advocate for it. If it's something I really like then I'll get it physical, but I'm hard to impress so it doesn't happen often. Although the Gunship band really makes me want to start getting cassettes since they also sell their albums on those.

Sir Skelington

The only thing I like to buy physically is art, actually. I love getting prints of my favourite characters, especially if I can get them signed! I don't know why, but art just looks better on paper than on a screen, maybe there's some science behind that. Everything else is digital. I just back everything up to a massive drive and it's very convenient. I do miss being able to sell my old video games or movies though, unfortunately there's no such thing as second hand digital goods.

codytachi

My sleep has been improved from my actual nightmare of a weekend for sleep lol. I'm always open to new sounds, so looking forward to the sand wormy. For physical vs digital, I almost always will pick digital. I love convivence over most things in life, I am very lazy. I also don't worry to much about losing things as I have the know how (and moral flexibility lets say) to somehow acquire most things I want to play or watch. That being said, if something is easy to acquire I will pay for it. For example, FF7 Original on switch looks great and has a few additional features that was more than worth it to pay for even though I could have easily played it for free using other methods. Lastly though, reading through the other comments, there is somethings that I prefer in psychical. And that is any Book, Manga, Comic, etc. as I just find it easier to read.

Why do I sense that we were stuck in quicksand, which is why we are "saved" by the sandworm girl. To be fair, I could sleep for a good 4 hours or more, and it feels like I need a coffee or two to wake me up in the morning, yet I could just have something with caffeine in it and I will be awake for about like 5 more hours. Tbh, I prefer physical copies of anything all the time. Its better for any perspective, whether it would be from any work or documents you require. Only time I would accept digital copies is if that's how it's required.

BloodyAzazel

Physical vs digital: It's kind of a case by case basis for me. When it comes to anime and movies, I get the blu-rays because the bitrate's better. That means better video quality and better sound quality. When it comes to comic books, I prefer physical because the pages are big and glossy and look so good. When it comes to manga, I prefer digital. Physical manga is smaller and has cheaper paper, so it looks better on my monitor or tablet than in print. For music, I generally go digital. I'll buy flacs when they're available for purchase online. If they're not available online, I might be willing to buy the cd.

I feel ya on the sleep, I’ve been having to be up around 5:30-6am for work since peak hit, most days I’m running on 4-5hrs of sleep LOL I dig the choices, I’m excited to see what you decide to do with which ever one that wins, (the DnD nerd wants to vote kobold but I gotta say I’m a sucker for raccoons 🤣). Also never really commented before so I wanted to say that I love your art style! :) For me I do enjoy having physical copies since I have some books and mangas, I enjoy having the art on the covers, but I do enjoy being able to listen to music at work and read manga on my phone when we’re either slow or I’m on break. So I think I’m a little biased to digital just for that reason lol

BerryCole

I feel you on the sleep thing. This morning I was so tired waking up to my alarm at - get this - 9.30am. I had a Rockstar and a chocolate bar right next to me for breakfast. Interesting variation of choice here. XD Two real world mammals, or a fictional dragon character. Lmao. Despite how cool the latter sounds, I've always imagined a character from you with dark eye area such as a lemur or a raccoon. As for the QOTW, I'll say that I prefer having physical copies because I like looking at my stack of PS4 games. However, there has been a time where I needed to buy a digital copy of a game I already had (because god knows what was wrong with that disc, it looked fine).

Artilleries

It's hard to decide between physical or digital, considering my dad has a huge collection of vinyl that I love, but I'm also well aware of how accessible digital is. Overall though it depends. If it's something that holds sentimental value, like music, films and whatnot, I prefer physical, but digital is my go to for ease of access. "Saved" by a Sandworm though, that sounds interesting, and I look forward to being a test subject for triggers o7.

ProzXADYN

I do tend to buy physical copies when I can. Digital copies do have the ease of starting without switching out the medium, and if gaming on PC I can back up the copies to a drive I can plug into another PC. I do hope for console games saved to an SD card I can havk them some way so I can emulate them on PC without a working console.
