QOTW and next Friday's character!
Added 2023-11-08 23:27:27 +0000 UTCHappy Wednesday everyone! I hope your week is going well so far :) After work today I took a little trip to do some "ASMR shopping" lol. I basically went to different stores and found random things to make sounds with xD I'm excited to use them in some upcoming stories! I mentioned this in the plant girl upload, but I noticed a little late that in our last poll "caring, attentive, and sweet" was tied and at one point ahead. So, what I'm going to do is make next Friday's character just that- emphasis on the "sweet" part :P
Now onto this week's question: Who is your favorite fictional character and why? Picking one is really hard for me but Light Yagami is a big one. Why? Because despite him being a complete narcissistic ass hole he took a potato chip...and ate it!

Woah, that's pretty cool! I had no idea Stan Lee worked on something like that. The fact that it has those undertones though has me curious. As a fan of all those things I think I need to investigate further xD

2023-11-13 05:39:49 +0000 UTCThe other one I’d be surprised if you or anyone else knew. It’s called Karakuri Doji Ultimo, created by Stan Lee and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei. Yes, THAT Stan Lee lol. It’s a real basic good vs evil shonen plot but I enjoyed it. Also there’s a LOT of traps and yaoi undertones, which makes me have this somewhat cursed conspiracy theory that Stan Lee was secretly into femboys haha

I could also talk about Rean a hell of a lot but since he is a main character most of things I would say are basically just the plot the games rather than short examples. Also personally I don't have much of a care for bullies in fictional work. I'll root for any hero to beat them up lol. And most of the time in stories they don't get permanently hurt so even less to feel bad about.

I know you said you read Death Note, but I'm not sure if you mentioned the other manga or not, or is the second one JoJo? I've caught a few episodes here and there but not enough to get a full grasp on anything. All I know for certain are the "stands/poses" that people like to do lol. A lot of customers come into the store buying shirts and stuff of it, so I've been curious about it for a while :D

I know it could be argued that someone shouldn't stoop to said person's level in certain situations and I get that. But I'm also a firm believer in you fuck around and find out haha! xD I totally understand your like of a character and their story though. I have a few characters that I feel the same way about across a few books, anime, etc. that I could go on for hours about!

2023-11-11 18:44:59 +0000 UTCYe, Rean is a classic good boy protag but then they gave him massive self doubt and anxiety lol. Still though, it is a nice trait to have as a teacher to some degree as he relates to a his students. It is very wholesome (other than the massive war that is also going while he is a teacher). I can't even get started talking about Renne though or my comment will go on for far too long with how much I would praise how her story is written. At it's most basic though, she used to be a villain that was eventually convinced to join the heroes. Her scythe is from when she was a villain known as the angel of slaughter. Also that name is pretty accurate, she did kill a lot of people but was also 11 years old. So it was bit easier for the writers to justify a murderer becoming part of the heroes. There's obviously a bit more to it than that as there is now 10 games in the series, but my actual favorite thing about her is that she doesn't really have a heroes mind set at all still. Like she doesn't kill people anymore and is ultimately doing the right thing, but in a more recent story she ruined a school bullies entire life by exposing their dad as a corrupt politician and beating the bully pretty badly in a physical fight as they just assumed she was a normal girl. It is a neat story gimmick for The Caligula Effect, especially as it's something you choose to do at the beginning of the game and not like a last second betrayal you can do out of nowhere. It's also cool as Overdose is a rerelease since the game was only on PS Vita originally and this whole villain route was added out of basically nowhere just cause they thought it would be cool as a little bonus if people already beat the game.

Full disclosure, I’ve actually watched very little anime all the way through and only read two manga series all the way through. I’m mostly a weeb by virtue of watching vTubers. My younger sister is the true otaku haha As for where to start with JoJo, every part is largely it’s own self contained story (only 1-6 are animated). Old characters will show up to varying degrees of plot relevance but the narratives of each part are pretty much their own thing, focusing on different members of the Joestar family. Story-wise parts 1 and 2 are completely different from the rest. Parts 1 and 2 focus on Hamon (a martial art focused on breathing weird) and punching vampires. Part 3 drops Hamon/vampires entirely and introduces the iconic “Stands” which are like manifestations of your fighting spirit (punchy mind ghosts), with each Stand having some unique ability. My personal favorite part is part 4, despite my favorite JoJo, Joseph, being the main character of Part 2

2023-11-10 06:36:42 +0000 UTCI've never played Assassin's Creed, but I've watched a few videos of others play it- seems like a fun game! :) While I'm not familiar with the character, as you said, Italian and assassin so they automatically get points! Oh, I didn't tell you? I actually just got back from my trip! I'm not supposed to tell anyone this, but my plan is to learn an accent and sweet talk my way up the ranks at my job here! Us Americans easily fall for an accent so that's the plan. I kid of course- about the trip anyway :P I had someone else this week at the grocery store ask if I was someone's daughter (I had no idea who they were talking about) and I just politely said no xD

Romance is a genre I don't venture into often, but I very much like Asuka's bio :) I like characters and stories that showcase going against the "norm" of hobbies, appearance, etc. If I happen to see it at the bookstore during my next visit I'll have to check it out- thanks for sharing!

As for Samwise, if someone told me they didn't like him I'm not sure I could be their friend lol. He is such a sweet cutie- everyone needs a Sam in their life!

It seems like something I'd like so I'm willing to give it a try one day! I'm going to go into it assuming I just start at the oldest aired one? Or is this one those series where they are all different so it doesn't matter too much?

While I've never played the Trails series, I do really enjoy seeing a character grow so the idea of Rean being a student and growing into a teacher is a wholesome thing- I like that :) As for Renne, despite not knowing her story it seems as though she has a scythe so that's already an automatic win haha! As for the song- I liked it very much! I enjoyed the girl's singing especially :) The idea of a self-insert is really neat. I don't think I've ever heard of a game doing something like that with a boss theme so that's pretty bad ass ngl xD

It really is fun and neat though :D As for Juna Crawford, while I'm not familiar with her character I can say for 100% certainty that she is very cute in design!

I remember being really into the opening song/video since it was a rendition of Klimt paintings- very cool. I think my first introduction to a yandere character was Kotonoha from School Days. Even though I love her character I have a hard time recommending the anime haha! xD

Lol, you favour Yagami for the right reason, Ali; he was hungry so now he's our favourite! XD I don't know if I even have a favourite fictional character - not something I usually think about. Though, I think a safe option for me would be Ezio Auditore. Handsome, charismatic. We see him slowly grow from a vengeful, trouble-causing young nobleman to a wise, experienced and calculating master assassin. Oh, and he's Italian - like, c'mon... Can't wait to see what you've picked up from the stores! Speaking of stores, I swear I saw a British version of you running a small goth clothing shop. Glasses, short hair, kind - and most importantly - absolutely tiny! XD You never said you were visiting Manchester, I would've said 'hi'! lmao i'm gonna die for this but i'll post anyway YOLO Hope your week is going well also!

Character bio: "He's very masculine and cool but secretly he loves girls' things. This, however, does not stop him from being necessarily tough on occasion- he can defend himself and his friends. When Asuka was young his father left his family because he wanted to become a woman. This affected Asuka's mother severely and when she saw that her son was starting to like girls' things she forced him to be masculine. Asuka also clearly states that while he likes girly things, he does not want to become a woman. When a new girl in school, Ryou Miyakozuka, is being bullied he defends her and afterwards falls in love with her. Among his talents, besides sports, includes cooking and sewing. He also enjoys reading the fictional manga "Love chick" which runs in "Hana to Mame"- a play of words on the actual manga magazine Hana to Yume- the sister magazine in which Otomen runs."

2023-11-09 03:32:31 +0000 UTCIma pick two characters since I can, Joshua Graham from New Vegas, I think he just has such a neat story of having been the bad guy and then getting ousted and for the rest of his life be reminded of his past by his wounds but even after that he still want to do good. Also I gotta pick Samwise, I mean do I even have to explain it, his speech at the end of the second movie gets me every time and is a good snapshot of how important he is.

Looking forward to what you’re cooking up with the new character, “emphasis on sweet” can mean a lot of things when it comes to how you tend to subvert expectations! Now, as for favorite fictional character? That’s an extremely tough question! I really am terrible at picking favorites lol, had to list my favorite characters from a bunch of different mediums and see who I liked best from that list, came down to Joseph Joestar. I’m kind of a sucker for the “wise-cracking jackass with a heart of gold” trope

2023-11-09 01:29:17 +0000 UTCLooking forward to all the cool new sounds you will hopefully be able to make! I don't know why but seeing the word sweet emphasized make me think of Alcremie lol. There is so many fictional characters that I adore, and at this moment it's probably Arlecchino from Genshin Impact but that's just because I'm playing the new story quests that released today. I have 2 real answers with different reasonings and a runner up tho. Firstly is Rean Schwarzer from the Trails series. Arguably the character that I have spent the most time playing as in any game and while he is a little bit dry he has some charming moments as a main character. But the biggest reason I pick him is you get to play him as a student through multiple years of school and then also him as a teacher with his own students later on (one of them being the character codytachi mentioned). It's really just a nice story progression. My runner up would be Renne from the same series as I think she is the best written character across all the games, but she's never a main character. My other favorite is the protagonist from a RPG called The Caligula Effect: Overdose. They are just like a self insert style character but at a certain you can choose to secretly join the villains in the game and lie to your party members. You even show up several times to be a boss fight for you own party members. It's really just a neat concept for a character that otherwise doesn't have much going on due to being a self insert. You also get your own boss theme which is my favorite song in any video game, but I'm not sure if it will be to your taste or not honestly lol. Picking a favourite character is a nigh impossible task and my answer would probably change every time I'm asked, but Juna Crawford from the Trails series is definitely up there. She possesses a strong will and integrity that I admire and to an extent even strive to achieve myself.

As for the favorite fictional character, I got confused for like a minute of what it said, but then remembered that it doesn't specify. I'd say it's between Golden Freddy or Lucy from Elfen Lied. G. Freddy is more or less a favorite of mine because of just how my knowledge of lore comes from it. Lucy is just such an amazing yandere character that is so deadly with a great character design. (Maybe that's where my love for yandere characters come from)
