ahhh... time to unleash the writer in me and jot down some of my thoughts about what arguably has been the most complex project i've had the joy of making in a good while.. From dubstep influenced half time trap sections to a Thin Lizzy ripoff double L/R guitar solo, this track's got it all. Though very fast tempo-wise, the overall pace ended up being quite slow, however I really think tian nya and I nailed the vibes this time around as well, and i really quite am happy how it turned out.
The chord progression on this track was actually a bit of an odd one. It's a derivative of the andalusian cadence, ever present in 'swing' genres, starting halfway through the normal 4 chord progression and repeating as usual from then on, resulting in quite an unique vibe. So, instead of a 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4,. it'd be 3-4-1-2, 3-4-1-2.. It initially threw me for a loop, and truth be told I think it's going out of its way to do something new for the sake of new, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think the chorus to be extremely catchy.
I think one of the favorite parts I've ever had the pleasure of wrangling into a remix has to be at the 2nd half. Not only is it a key change, nor just a guitar solo, but two of them. For the longest time I've wanted to find an excuse to write a long and cascading double guitar solo and that was my moment. I don't think it really shines through in the final mix as much as I wanted, but I'm really happy I went through with it. Try listening to the part with just one earbud in, or an earphone on, or whatnot have you, and see how the melody changes! Or don't. I'm not the boss of you.
Anyhow, I don't think I've much else to ramble on, except offering the biggest of thank yous to tian nya for both the base arrangement of the track as well as the incredible cover image which you can find here https://twitter.com/tiannya_/status/1503567533634469889
