Galatea 2 - Chapter 14

CHAPTER 14: OUTDATED MEASUREMENTS

The slow, regretful return to campus was slow and arduous, but it needed to be done. Audrey dragged her feet, hoping that the uncaring ground would delay the inevitable even farther, yet her calves were simply too mighty to be hindered by something so trivial. Twin parallel lines stretched into the horizon like train tracks marking Audrey’s mopey demeanor as her toes wheelhoed the soil all the way back to campus.

It was getting late, hopefully Vanessa wasn;t at the dorm. It was far too much of a hassle to move dorms in the middle of the semester and Audrey was debating whether or not such drastic action even needed to be taken in the first place. Her hesitant fingers remained inches from the doorknob, stretching out the final task of the return trek as long as possible.

Biting the bullet and reluctantly opening the door, Audrey was greeted to a cacophony of desire. The distinct residue of sex was in the air, blasting her in the face with a sharp rise in humidity and a distinct salty smell.

Looks like Vanessa hasn’t even made it to the bedroom with her latest hookup—or more accurately, hookups. Somehow, she had managed to fit herself and two others on the couch lengthwise, the three of them huddled up lazily as only Vanessa appeared to stir at the sound of her roommate entering.

“Mmmn,” she moaned pleasantly, as if waking up from the best nap of her life. She immediately checked her phone on the side table and was satisfied with the time present on the screen. “Ah, good, I woke up exactly on time. A mere 30 minute detour from my exercise routine, followed by the five-course meal I have planned with Dr. Giles later.”

Audrey just sighed at the sight.

“Well, no point hiding this perfecting body anymore,” Vanessa gloated, knowing her roommate was within earshot, though her eyes refused to look Audrey’s way beyond a mere sidelong glance.

The leftmost boy of the day let out a half-conscious groan as Vanessa brushed him from her own silky-smooth body as if he was just another blanket to her. Vanessa rose effortlessly from the bed to the mirror, the sweat of passionate lovemaking glistening atop her naked form only serving to make her more enticing—like the cinematography of a soda commercial. The top of her head extended beyond the reach of the 6' mirror, but from there downward was nothing less than perfection.

Her body had taken the leap from heart-pounding to heart-stopping. Likely heart-attack-inducing if this improvement kept up.

Slim ankles swelled to muscled calves, striations appeared in her marble thighs at the slightest movement. Rounded feminine hips slimmed to a svelte, cobbled waist, abs sculpted in impossible relief. Perfect hemispheres of firm flesh stretched outward, succulent and lush. She’d win a sculpting competition just by submitting herself.

Her face was angelic. Her plush lips, entrancing. The curve of her high cheekbones, both sultry and elegant. Her huge, luminescent, viridescent eyes and extravagant lashes turned a simple wink into a sexual act. High, thin arching eyebrows completed the perfection of her face.

Her hair—voluminous and iridescent—flowed with every movement in a spellbinding display. The light shining off of its current of ebony like a river within a lush forest of supple, feminine flesh.

Her beauty was devastating. Absolutely devastating. And it would only become more devastating tomorrow.

All she could do was giggle deviously. “Not exactly top dog anymore, are you?” Vanessa finally addressed Audrey, though only as she prepared for her late afternoon “jog,” refitting the tight sports bra and legging combo which somehow seemed even tighter on her body than it did that morning. “I don’t exactly see swaths of men and women circling around your every movement, though my own crowd could simply be too high.

Audrey was going to say something in response, only for a nagging knock at the door to come to her attention. She answered it, already annoyed, and the sight on the other side did nothing to quell her annoyance.

“H-helo, is-is Vanessa there?”

It was some spindly nerd Audrey didn’t recognize. Probably took those science classes she dropped out of in her early college years before the virus had come into her life.

“If I go to long without seeing he I start daydreaming of Lady Vanessa's elegant form. Her silhouette within the blinds as she changes her clothes... Hehe…” Audrey hadn’t even had a chance to respond to his question, his word vomit continued to spew out irregardless of anything she could have said.

“Her perfect body… Oh my… I’m drooling at the thought of her figure-hugging silk dress... I'm busy picturing... Um, her lace lingerie that I bought for her glistening like polished jade as she emerges from her bathing time… I'm busy picturing… Oh my... worship… Oh my... bath… Oh my… the perfume... Oh my… Oh. I'm. Aah! She’s so… she’s so gorgeous, glistening perfect! I practically worship Lady Vanessa! Do you worship her? Oh, but you must! You do live with her after all! It must be impossible to resist such a powerful sight! Hehe... Where was I... lace lingerie… ah yes… to see her—”

Audrey slammed the door in the gangly geek’s face before more of her brain cells were wasted listening to his decomposing diatribe of half-formed thoughts. It seemed that even the mere thought of her beauty to this touch-starved idiot turned him into a mindless slave.

“Oh, I see you’ve met one of my regulars. They’re all over me like smallpox these days. All I need to do is give them a sultry wink every now and again, and they’ll shower me with gifts and appraisal. He might be the most desperate of the bunch, and I don’t even know his name.”

“What happened to you, Vanessa?” was all Audrey could manage, her words flat with disgust at the woman before her. She had nothing more to say, nothing that could better sum up the rising anger that was reaching its peak at this very moment. Vanessa was a bit… callous earlier, but now she was being actively passive-aggressive to her supposed best friend, dismissing her entirely. And for what?

For the briefest moment, Audrey swore she saw a facade break atop Vanessa’s face. As if there was a true Vanessa from within who was heartbroken by the question asked.

“I… should be on my way now,” Vanessa replied, her tone distant and lacking confidence. She walked past Audrey and left without another word.

Now Audrey was left in silence to contemplate just what the hell was happening, though mulling over the events only seemed to leave her with more questions than answers.

“Ugh, what time is it?” spoke one of the forgotten Vanessa flings, lazily rubbing a hand through his hair as smacked his lips.

“Time for you to leave, Chud,” Audrey snapped back, kicking a pair of crumpled-up jeans his way.

“Jeez, bitch. I get it, not everyone can be as sexy as your roommate. You don’t need to get all up in arms about it.”

Before this guy could even register Audrey’s retaliation, she had her hand around his throat. Holding him up high, he felt no different than a wriggling sack of potatoes. And for a guy that looked like he was captain of the football team in all past lives, that was quite the middling description.

“Listen her, littledick,” Audrey spat through her teeth. “I don’t need to be constantly reminded that my bitch of a roommate is surpassing me in beauty as the days progress. If you say some shit like that again, I’ll make sure “littledick” becomes a permanent nickname.”

From the commotion, Vanessa’s other fling had woken up. He had jumped on Audrey’s back, fruitlessly attempting to topple the impossibly imposing woman in a desperate attempt to save the floundering man in her grasp. She barely registered his existence, designating her other hand to reach over her head and grab him by the shirt collar, chucking him off into the nearby wall.

“I mean, it’s not like my boyfriend is looking to replace me, or anything. I guess I’m just… a little scared that he’ll take one look at what Vanessa can offer and become as mindless as those nerds that drool over imagined depictions of her,” Audrey continued, reflecting on her emotions as the man in her clutches turned shades of purple. Her anger was dimming, being replaced with rese

She just sighed, only dropping the man once her whole body slumped forward in diffident sadness. He quickly scooped up whatever he could get his hands on and fled, too frightened to check on the unconscious man Audrey threw into a wall earlier.

Audrey was wrong to let Brian leave her in her time of need. She needed his cheerful attitude and charming personality to cheer her up and soon.
